I think its too early to say yet. I have been unimpressed up until the last couple of games where I can see he has some unique skills in his locker. His assist yesterday was very very clever and was more difficult to execute than it looked and as you say his 'breaking lines' through speed is something we haven't seen for a while. I will start to get excited when he shows those attributes more consistently. I'm still not convinced about his defensive work rate yet but maybe that will come with time. Interesting player with potential, for sure.
Similar to his assist for Haaland against Forest at home.

He’s getting there. Said a month or so ago that when he gets up to speed with how we move and when to release the ball at the right time that he will be a big plus and he’s slowly getting there.
Still plenty more to come from him but the signs are good.
I know it was lower opposition but he played well in the Club World Cup. Last night would have done him a lot of good. How many players have been written off under Pep for them to suddenly come good?

If we assume he might not (yet) start big PL and CL matches there will be many PL and cup games where we need fresh legs of such a good OM. That's exactly what Liv and Arse can't offer...

Last night was exactly what he needs for his confidence and I think he will develop in the right direction, getting more minutes on the way.
Much may depend on us starting to skewer teams earlier. If we’re still being held or have a precarious 1-0 lead, then Guardiola has shown that he’ll persist with those players he trusts fully. Get ahead and the pitch becomes a rather different landscape, one where Nunes can excel. Going to be interesting months.

Needs to get his confidence and thoughts sorted. Was really good last nightm, head down and ran at them with grace and contro.l.... Until it came to the crunch. Much the same with Doku as well I thought. But I was at the game with a pov so might be wrong.

I guess KDB recognized his potential, which can be seen from some details on the pitch, KDB still saying something to him when celebrating the goal. He wants to teach Nunes something.

I don't get it. Do we really want one of our players to fail?
Unfortunately for some on here the answer is yes if the alternative is that they may be proven wrong in their original, subjective, reactionary musings...that said I suppose that is the genesis of the adage "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"...

Thinking he'll not succeed at the club is not the same as wanting him to fail, I just think Sevilla, Villareal, Aston Villa, Newcastle is his level.

So, you can estimate his level better than Txiki and Pep!? You should be our main scout then. Or manager...

Why not trust their judgment a bit more than your own? Would that be a big mistake?

I remember a lot of people on here thought Rodri and Gundogan shouldn't start together and that Pep was out of his mind to play them both. How could Pep possibly know what he was doing? Wasn't it obvious that Rodri and Gundogan were too slow, immobile.. (insert a cliche here) to make us tick?

He’s a good player but I’ll hold off on saying more until I’ve seen him perform as well against more testing opponents than Burnley and Huddersfield. As you say, he’s got the pace and gait to gallop away from most midfielders and defenders, but he’ll need to improve his final vertical through ball (3 wayward last night). He’s currently comfortable providing horizontal assists, when he has more time to compose himself, but weighting the killer pass forward when on the gallop is much harder. When he starts delivering those, I’ll dig out my loupe and give a carat.
So, what you’re saying is you like the cut of his jib, but need greater clarity on the color of his shirt in a few years?

Early days but I'm still a bit on the fence. He was really good yesterday though.

He's young but not that young.

He has some very obvious weaknesses, but his weaknesses are quite important parts of playing in our team.

He obviously has a lot of strengths and ability as well.

In a game he'll do a lot of good things, but also quite a few bad things. That's okay if you're making the difference like a Haaland or KDB, but when you're just a squad player it's not really what you're after.

But then with time and coaching I think he has a really high potential.

See how it goes I guess. It's not like we're really relying on him anyway.
