Maybe though it’s time to give him a proper run in the side rather than a few minutes here and there. Not sure he is ready to start as the six but maybe as a pair of defensive midfielders with rodri

As much as I love Bernardo it’s obvious he doesn’t want to be here. Give Phillips a proper go and see what happens. Sink or swim time. The squad is small and we don’t have much room to change things around.
Playing with three at the back and Phillips dropping in as an extra centre back when we’re defending? I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the plan but he’s rarely been available. I think he played a similar role in one of the pre-season friendlies in America.

At the very least I expect a central midfielder that represents this football club to show for the ball and be brave.

In a Pep team you can't have midfielders that hide behind the ball and clearly don't want it, similar to Mctominay over at the swamp.

Of course, but it sounds like you aren’t taking into account the fact Philips was just coming back from a long term injury. He obviously isn’t going to be at his best first game back

fuck the fat twat he’ll be gone in summer
im sure you must have said that about aguero too as he was warned about his weight. We dont even know how much he was over. do we get rid of mahrez too cz hes been warned this season and was called out by pep...... but then again engish players seem to be the scapegoats in our teams whether it be grealish sterling and now phillips

Is anyone surprised that Kalvin Phillips came into this team and immediately got injured?

This is the main reason why I was sceptical of us signing him. Getting him on the pitch is a task, let alone him coming in and playing well.

Fernandinho at 36 was ever present and in absolutely superb condition. Rarely missed games for us.

We have replaced a fantastic player, a leader on and off the field with a massive crock that is nowhere near the footballer of Fernandinho. Nowhere near.

If this squad is to evolve and maintain its place at the top, we have to aim higher than Kalvin Phillips.

Not being harsh, just telling it how I see it.

No one can deny Kev, Gundo and Berny have all had poor to medium seasons form wise be it sitting deep or in a more advanced role.

Maybe it is time Philips was given a real chance as he can play deep or more forward and at present relying on the hope one of the other 3 hit form has been hamstringing our attacj I feel

Also if Pep is insisitng on 3 at the back and someone sitting along side rodri then Phillips over Lewis a full back needs to be considered

And this isb't a knock at Lewis who has beeen great.
Nope

i think thats more an oversight by city this shoulder issue should have had surgery in the summer has its been a long standing issue going back to leeds. Sort it out while they have 2 months off you dont get this particular issue

Well as a club we need to get on top of it sooner rather than later.

These links we are getting with Ben Chilwell at left back too, it's just another Kalvin Phillips situation all over again.

When you are in such a big position like Txiki and co, we can't afford to make oversights like this when the market is as brutal as it is right now and the money that's flying around in the premier league at the moment.

We have to get back to being diligent and smart in recruiting. Feel like we've been sloppy recently.
