I'm only commenting based on what makes me tick.

If i was struggling to make an impact at a new club or im needing to make a good impression and wishing to prove to the manager that he hasn't wasted 40m......i'm taking every miniscule opportunity by the bollocks and i'm coming off the bench like a man possessed.

I'd have been demanding the ball, crunching into tackles, and running myself into the ground with desire and commitment.

I'm sure he's a lovely lad, always smiling and seems content, but i just see a bloke who doesn't really get what is needed from him, what is required here.....the penny doesn't appear to be dropping.
If I’d signed a six-year contract on 100-plus grand a week I’d be smiling as well.

On a per minute played basis he must be the best paid player in the country - far better paid than Haaland - and personally I think he’s quite happy with that role.

I get that to make it as a top player you typically have to be incredibly competitive, and others have made a good point about a fundamental lack of mobility holding him back. But like you I don’t see any major desire to make an impression, and I can only assume that his limited opportunities to date - even allowing for Rodri’s form - are a function of his efforts in training. The issue with his weight after the World Cup is another example of a lack of application.

I thought his passing was ok when he came on. His positioning was a little better but he still needs to make himself available more. He got outmuscled easily at one point (again)and I don't like that. I get what folk are saying about his mobility though. He didn't look like he broke out of a jog.

It was a better display than previously when his imperfections actually changed the nature of the game when he came on. At least last night we continued to play good fluid possession football and Leipzig were not able to run through our midfield. I see that at least as a positive small step forward for Kalvin.

As I saw it last night, he was sent on at 6-0 up and either forgot, or didn't get any, instructions from Pep.

He went through the motions, looked lost and confused, and will have gained nothing from the experience.

Unless he gets a few regular starts, the lad will make no progress at City. Unfortunately for him, it's the business end of the season, and unless Rodri is out injured, he's not going to get a chance.

Then we saw it slightly differently.

I think we can both agree it would be preferable that Rodri remains fit.
Frankly I would rather see Gundo as DM than Phillips. Even in a CL final ;-)

Would he even get into a Leeds side?
You know he was a regular for them and England, so the lad can't be that bad.

He needs games and time, hopefully starting on Saturday.

This is where i miss the old Central League where we could've used that to get some of these fringe players valuable game time.

Either he definitely knows he is off or has a bad attitude. He didn’t even run when he came on, how is he ever going to get in the managers thoughts performing like that. Look at mahrez when he came on, he was like hey you left me out look what I can do, Phillips however came on and was the total opposite. Gomez is not very good but has got more about him than Phillips.
