Sometimes I wonder if some people have ever actually watched Messi?

I love Phil, but he's not as talented as Messi, there might not be another person that talented for 30 or 40 years.

It's an unnecessary comparison that set ridiculous expectation the kid is never going to live up to.

He's not on the level, nor do I reckon he will ever reach that level, but he has everything and is one of the best players in the world at every facet of his game. I can certainly understand Messi comparisons in his style of play, e.g vision, passing range, tight space dribbling and the way he can strike a ball.

My post was really pointing out that he will be talented enough to play a free role like Messi does, not that he’s as talented as Messi.
Although I think if he keeps improving as he is he will be one of the stand out players post Messi and the rag tw@t

like Jesus. He is that talented.

;-)

Will be our number one creative midfielder once Kev starts to decline and gundogan moves on. 2 years tops before he becomes the first name on the team sheet in Central midfield.

After a superb pass from Phil, Sancho gets the credit for an assist with a 2 yards sideways tap.
On ragcafe they were saying that Sancho was as good as Phil in that game. It's funny to see how clueless that bunch is, Phil was at least a level above everyone on that pitch

Needs to be a regular starter for us now, the same as De Bruyne where if he's fit he starts unless he really needs a rest. He's more than paid his dues as a rotational option.

The closest thing we have to Messi is Bernie. That run against the scousers was Messi like.

Saying things like “I am a superstar now“ . Not a good look I am sure you will agree.

Eh, of the top ten players of all time I'd wager seven or eight of them had that attitude. Guys like Ronaldo, Zidane, Ronaldinho were always comfortable with how good they were. It's pretty harmless. If he was shit and saying that, then we'd have a problem.

Messi with his quiet-guy, humble attitude is kind of an outlier among the very top tier, as were Silva and Agüero, which might be why City fans are a bit taken aback when they see players who don't mind talking themselves up.

All about opinions I suppose but when you have ESPN fc doing a fair size chunk on his attitude then his attitude has probably become a problem for his teammates. Craig Burley stating that he needs taking down a peg or two seems to indicate that Mmbappe has a attitude problem to me.

Is it just an odd perspective, or does Phil have really long arms and massive hands?

Edit: long arms, big hands, must have a big…
