47 | Phil Foden - 2023/24

I don't think he played particularly well and there seems a lot of pressure on him to be the man to do what De Bruyne does which is not going to happen for me as De Bruyne is the best player in the league. It’s a big season for him.

I've no major issue with Foden, but it's going to get to a point where if he is going to become a pivotal player for us, he has to start impacting games more often. Like more often than not.

At the moment he's just always on the edge of the game, a nearly man if you will.

He has to start to become one of the main men soon, otherwise you start to struggle to see where he fits in, especially with the apparent incomings.

Possibly a harsh take, I just don't him to get to 27 and us be saying the same things about him.
Lol. A “nearly man”. Insane nPG+A/90 in his career but sure, he’s not impacting games. Asinine statement.

Keep in this position and let him
get back into form. Young players can’t just drop in and out.

As bad a performance as I have seen from him . He’s gone backwards dramatically in the last year.
He was like 6th in the entire league in non-penalty goals per 90 last year?!

He was great last year and then got injured. Played great again and had an appendix operation.

Geez. Give him at least a handful of games before calling him a bust.

It is not about form or skill. It is the mindset. Phil's mindset is actually very false 9 when he is playing in the middle. He needs to get a bit deeper and roams a bit more free. But this is completely new to him. Don't jump on him yet. It takes time to brush off his false 9 mindset and become a true midfielder.

I just don't get how some can't appreciate what we've got.

The guy's got five league titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, a Champions League, a Super Cup and two Charity Shields by the age of 23, averaging around a goal every three games for the last three years, with god knows how many assists and man of the match performances.

Why the fuck would anyone be anything other than excited about Phil Foden and his future at Manchester City?

Football discourse is getting progressively more and more negative and it's so tedious.
