Another thread full of absolute goolies.
Since when did one poor 2/3 of one season in 7 encourage fans to turn on a player, let alone an academy player who is the reigning POTY and FWPOTY?
SHAME!
He's not played great for England for a long time, not scored since 2023 I think.

Do you not think so? They've been far more consistent and deserve to start.

I'm not even trying to dig out Foden here, Im not sure what's going on with him as to me at he won't be starting for club and country.

Tuchel more or less said he was shite.. playing safe passes instead of making runs, taking people on and driving with the ball.

Basically what we've seen here all season where if he's not receiving the ball on the half turn, 25 yards away and right from centre of oppo goal, then he's offering little to no threat. Become a one trick pony.

That's pep influence keep the ball at all cost! Stops trying to flick the ball pass a player to get past them on the wing where there was space behind the two players stopping them getting past and they know he will pass back! He has to be braver for England at least now

Played out of position for England.
1/2 the player he was last season.
End the season.
Rest.
Come back firing on all cylinders.
Fingers crossed.
He’s not played out of position though. Pep plays him in the same positions for City as often as he does centrally.

As soon as De Bruyne came back in January last season and was in the team, Foden played on the right.

Nobody is turning on him. They're discussing his current performances, which have been poor, on his player performances thread. Not even close to the same thing.

Some are far too sensitive over warranted criticism of our players.

He's in a bad run of form, but he is also not a right winger, nor left winger, which is where he is being played in international football so that others can be accommodated.

Same applies to Bernardo and Grealish. What/who is the common factor?
They’re all too scared to do what De Bruyne does? They’re all to scared to do what Sané Sterling Doku Savinho did/do?

Pep stands on the touchline going mental at players for not doing the right thing. He’s put Foden and Grealish on the bench because they aren’t doing what he wants them to and aren’t producing top quality performances.

I'm not buying this played out of position argument. It's doing him and his talents a disservice; in any advanced position he's capable of producing better than he has done this season, and this isn't just reflective of last night.

Can’t help but feel the fire in his belly has gone and he is too comfortable. Also murmurings he has had some off field problems.

Next season will be dictate his future. Another poor season and it could be curtains for his city career.

This thread just confirms how fickle football fans are, and how quickly they can turn on someone.

If anyone thinks Phil Foden is done, well there isn’t much hope. He will once again win POTY, and on that I would happily put my mortgage.

Hes had great performances for us on the wings so this idea he's not in his natural position isnt true
He creates more chances and gets more assists from the wings than he does centrally. It’s something like twice as many assists in half as many games compared to centrally.

He does score more goals from the middle (might be a similar ratio the other way) but, like you say, it’s not like he doesn’t play wide for City.

I think Pep prefers him wide but knows Foden likes to play in the middle so mixes it up with him.
