Are you really trying to argue that it's fair to criticise a small, pacy goalscoring forward for apparently not being strong enough in the tackle? It's not even close to his job to be good at that. It's like saying Dias is great but he just lacks composure in front of goal.
To further this, it's his pressing contribution in the scope of all our forwards pressing that's integral to stopping them get momentum and to win the ball back that ensures our possession dominance so that we have the luxury of not having to make as many 50/50 tackles as every other team. That's our strength. He's nicely becoming more of a team player, getting his bean up and seeing others where he wouldn't before.

I saw nothing more than an average performance, first half awful, second alot better when he decided to run at players.
There is still so much lacking in his game though ,such as strength, holding the ball up,decision making.......and yet to read the comments on here youd think he was tearing it up every game.

Improving,yes...but not enough.
I came on here to see what others thought -i thought he had a really poor game today (with the exception of the assist and the good pull back in the first half)... I was gobsmacked when MEN scored him 9/10

I’m not a Sterling knocker on his day he is outstanding and he’s always got a match winner or contribution in him but of late I feel he’s been off his high standard

He's talking shit again. He really hates Raheem for some reason. I thought he was brilliant today

No he wasnt,he was no better than competent,so you need to look in the mirror where talking shit is concerned.

I dont hate Raheem,i dont rate him - huge difference,so dont accuse me of something you know fuck all about.

Its a part of his game where he can do better,it often means we lose the ball and the opposition breaks, such lack of conviction is harming us as a team. When you add it to his other faults, they quickly add up.

Bernardo and Foden, equally small......do much better in this department, they win and hold the ball up,and keep possession, far more effectively. He 100% needs to show more strength/effort where that weakness is concerned.

Fantasy.. you need to give up on this. It’s clear you don’t rate him and that’s fair enough.. but you are wrong. He’s making you look silly now and come May you will look even more daft.

This is a site for opinion,so dont tell me how and when to express such.

The lad isn't good or consistent enough, you think different.....crack on.

Another game against Spurs, and another debate about Raheem Sterling.
This tme its about ,apprently, his strength in the tackle.wtf??

The lads strength of character is ,imo,a far more important issue.

A few seasons back, two hours before k.o at The Etihad..against Spurs..Raheem was violently attacked by some idiot .This attack was both physical and mental. Our players right foot was targeted, his mother and child the subject of verbal death threats, and racial abuse thrown in.

.The offender eventually received a custodial sentence.

What does our player do?

Line up against Spurs, that very same day ..score two goals, put in a Man of the Match performance..and refuse to react ,during the game
When his England " colleagues" Harry Kane and Dele Ale both crunched into violent challenges on Raheem, when both must have known about the attack on the player prior to the match...thanks lads.

Thats strength of character ,a sign of steel,a sign of a very strong minded Professional Footballer..

But hey..he doesnt win enough 50/50 challenges....never mind the fact he is practically the first name on the team sheet ,week in week out for the best manager in the world.......

YCNMIU.

Its ok,and rationale to say he wasnt at his best yesterday,...its plain stupid to pick fault with an area of his game which is not relevant for an attacking forward.

It would appear 'Lockdown Fever' is affecting a few on here.

Next debate...Sergio Augero doesn't make enough defensive goal line clearances.

Thought that the last 2 games Sterling has been really improved. Both games he started really slowly but both times grew into the game. Good to see some good direct fast dribbling on the wings to get good crosses in and also good dribbles into the box. Definitely a confidence player.,
