Imagine thinking there's a chance in hell he will be sold whilst Pep is in charge. Not a hope, and for a few on here, hope is all they will have..

Sterling played well today, his off the ball movement and runs were excellent. The delicious cross he put in the 1st half deserved to be put away.

Unfortunately, there will always be the poor first touch and his finishing leaves a lot to be desired but overall he is an asset to both England and City.

Just think about that statement. It’s absolutely spot on by the way. I don’t get the hype surrounding Sterling. He will never improve either of those important aspects to his game and for me, because of that, he is not at the elite level. He’s a really nice lad, works hard, runs hard, tries his best, but he is not an elite football player in my estimation. We need players who we can rely on to put the ball in the net 7 times out of 10 not 2 times out of 10. Harsh but true.

70% conversion rate?! haha

Aguero in his City career for league goals has a conversion rate of 18%.

This season in the league:
Gundogan 26%
Jesus 19%
Mahrez 19%
Sterling 18%
Foden 16%
Bernardo 8%
Torres 8%
KDB 4%

More to than that of course because it depends on the quality of the chances... Gundogan and Mahrez are comfortably above xG and lead the way with Foden who is ahead by 1.
Sterling and Jesus are a tad below ie 1 more goal each and they'd be ahead.
Bernardo, Torres are comfortably below.
KDB is terrible. Fortunately he has finally rediscovered his shooting boots.

Incidentally Aguero has never been a big hitter in terms of exceeding xG. Simply he misses loads.
His success is based on a high number of shots p90 - always the highest or close to the highest in the league each season. The ability to get a shot off where others can't is a huge attribute.

Consider the last 3 seasons before this one. 23 goals, 25 goals, 31 goals. All from the wing.

You think we could sign a player who could score 3 times as many? I'd love to know who you think would have scored 70-90 goals a season from the wing for us the last few years, or 40 this season for that matter. We've not done too badly considering.

Even this season, when he's been off the boil for the most part, he has 13 goals and 10 assists. He'll probably end up with at least 30 goal contributions for the 4th season running. If Sterling isn't an elite football player with those numbers, very few on our team are, let alone anyone else out there.
