Just think about that statement. It’s absolutely spot on by the way. I don’t get the hype surrounding Sterling. He will never improve either of those important aspects to his game and for me, because of that, he is not at the elite level. He’s a really nice lad, works hard, runs hard, tries his best, but he is not an elite football player in my estimation. We need players who we can rely on to put the ball in the net 7 times out of 10 not 2 times out of 10. Harsh but true.
True of this season only really.

Gabriel Jesus has missed 68 big chances since he came to us in the league. Sterling has missed 84 since the start of his Premier League career.

In 5 years, Edin missed about 50.

One ‘knows where the net is’, one gets labelled a grafter, the other gets berated.

Sergio is the big hitter - 126 from 11/12- 19/20.
In the top 5 for 6 out of the 9 seasons.
He's shit obviously :)

This is where stats are utterly misleading...sterling pads his stats with an enourmous amount of taps ins that requre him simply to arrive at a certain position at the right time....we can thank pep for choaching him on that.

However, when it comes to chances he has to bury by not simply putting his toe on the ball...different story with raz.

He's lacking. Anyone unwilling to see it is fooling themselves and not looking at him objectively. Also selling our standards down the river to think its good enough.

In my view City need to be a little careful around contract length with Sterling. If we are honest, his number one asset is pace, it often makes up for a poor technique and lack of composure. As players age they slow down, Walker seems to be an exception to that, but generally it is true. So a point will come with Sterling when you have a moderately quick player, with not too much else, on huge money and with little resale value. It might not be a popular suggestion, but if we go for Kane this summer, I would offer them Sterling in part exchange.

I must have missed the rule change that says tap ins don't count. What next a points system where screamers count double perhaps and nimble footed weaves through defenders triple.

Could you not bring yourself to say "we can thank Sterling for listening, learning and improving his game"?

Haha! That would mean acknowledging Sterling's ability as a professional footballer who has made it to the very top of the game, which is beyond several posters on here.

I would be able to reply to some of these idiots if they could say.
His finishing is not the best , but he still deserves a spot in our team because of his other attributes.
Instead they are saying "pep" is a fool.

Correct, it's a refusal to admit how good he's been for us and pretending he's been shit for two years that grates. He is going nowhere though so they will just have to accept the best manager in the world rates him a tad higher than the bluemoon brains trust.

According to latest reports Sterling wants significant salary increase. He is currently on £300k a week.

We'd be mugs to do that as he wont get any more than that anywhere else.
