To say he never shys away from taking players on is a bit stretched.
It is only very recently that he started to have a go. Until then, and for a long time, he was virtually stalling going forward, opting to pass it on.

You must've missed the last two title wins then, including him driving at the Dippers defence to set up the winner for Sane in the most crucial league game in recent memory. Don't let recency bias cloud your overall judgement, he had a difficult 2020 no doubt (yet still finished last season with 30 goals) but to say he's shied away "for a long time" is utter rubbish.

Ah, got ya. When you say he never shies away from taking on his defender, you weren't referring to this season.

He has been shit for nearly two years according to a couple of people , factually untrue
If that is aimed at me Karen, please quote the post where I have said that.
I have read several times his form has dropped off a cliff, or he's been poor etc, but I cannot recall reading "he has been shite" for two seasons.

Anyone playing the race card to criticise Sterling deserves all the flak they get, but tbh, I haven't seen any as brutal as you suggest on this thread,

You have because you even said yourself that the first comment I gave as an example was "weird". Pretty sure it was posted by the guy who just liked one of your comments but I might be getting usernames mixed up. The other example I gave was removed after provoking the kind of response you'd expect.

He has been off of form ever since covid started, b. silva has been off of form ever since we've got banned from the champs league

I already posted the stats earlier, but Sterling has the most goal contributions out of any city player every season for the last 4 seasons.

Even last season when people think he had a poor season, he was number 1.

Stop talking nonsense like its been ages since he has performed for us. Literally been doing it for years, and this season when he is below standard (currently like his first season under Pep numbers) we don't need people saying stupid shit like get rid and sell when he is under par in this season. You back him.

As Billy said, and my stats posted show, best player for us in these past 4 to 5 years.

You can say you want Foden starting over him in games, thats fine, but get out of here with this get rid nonsense, your an idiot if you think so, objectively your an idiot.
Mario Gomez was the main goal contributor to Bayern 2010-2012. Does anyone think he was the best player above Ribery, Robben, Muller, Lahm, Kroos, Neuer? No one.

Does a hard assist, that only KDB could do in the team, have the same impact as an easy assist? Does a goal for 4-0 have the same value as a goal for 1-0? The most important stat is which goals/assists were fundamental to get 3 points. Even then, 2-1 against Dortmund was thanks to an excellent pass by KDB, but that was not an assist, how do we count those? Even then, for Man C only 5 players are really offensive and have the shot to be the one who has the highest amount of important contributed goals. Does that mean that the other 6 players cannot be the most important player for City?

Give me a player that has 20 goals+ assists, but manages the tempo of the team, has a champion mentality, great technique and dribbling ( a Foden or KDB), over a 40 goals+ assist whose only contributions to the game are the goals and assists (Mario Gomez). The only way to know which players are the most important for the team is to watch the games.

I agree that for 2017-2019 Sterling was top 2/top 3 player for Man C , but there is no way he's been the most important player for City in the last 5 years. KDB and Aguero are the most important for the team. Sterling is probably the third.

About this season, let' focus on how the team plays, and which players are fundamental to the way we play. Those, and the ones who have scored important goals or assists or great passes or managed the tempo of the game, are the best players for the team on the current season, not the ones who score the most. I would say that: KDB, Dias, Gundogan, Foden are easily more impactful than Sterling this season. And players like Cancelo, Rodri, Stones, Bernardo have had more impact on the way we play than Sterling. Even Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus have an argument to be more important players this season than Sterling.
