737-8 max plane goes down (2018) - new not Max crash Indonesia

At least you have the perspective of knowing about it being a pilot, whilst the majority on here are just "passengers". I've been interested in aviation since I was a kid, and have worked pretty much all of my working life in things related to aviation, at numerous airports, and military bases, but the input in a thread like this, as a pilot, is much appreciated.

I'm thinking the pilot did it on purpose.

It's a straight nose dive into the ground, surely if the plane was out of control it would be a bit more levelled out?
No reason to think that. Who knows what bits of the aircraft were intact and what the aerodynamic characteristics of what was left would be without knowing much more? Something catastrophic clearly happened in cruise and most of the aircraft stayed intact until it hit the ground. That's about as much as we know.

Isn't that exactly what people said about the previous crashes until we found out it was the MCAS system forcing the nose down?

Piece of debris found in a field 6 miles from crash site believed to possibly be from plane.

Flight data indicates someone in the cockpit intentionally crashed a China Eastern jet earlier this year, according to people familiar with U.S. officials’ preliminary assessment of what led to the accident.

The Boeing 737-800 was cruising at high altitude when it suddenly pitched into a near-vertical descent, plummeting into a mountain at extreme speed. Data from a black box recovered in the crash suggests inputs to the controls pushed the plane into the fatal dive, these people said.

“The plane did what it was told to do by someone in the cockpit,” said a person who is familiar with American officials’ preliminary assessment, which includes an analysis of information extracted from the plane’s damaged flight-data recorder.

Didn’t someone state that was the least likely outcome?

That was @ChicagoBlue although I have to say I agreed with him.

It's scary to imagine what was going on in the flight deck if one pilot was fighting to stop the other pilot killing everyone.
More sinister than that.
It is reported that there were three pilots on the flight deck and the airline report that there were no indications that any of the three had financial problems.
Clearly financial problems must been seen as a reason for suicide.
