Shown some nice flashes and doesn't look out of place on the ball at all. shooting was way off today, not an issue but sterling would have been slaughtered for missing that chance he put on a plate for him.

He really needs to work on his out of possession game though, whilst he fits in with the ball, he's substantially off the required standard when we lose it and I can see it preventing him getting minutes more often until he gets upto scratch. No reason to believe he won't do that.

He had some really bright moments of quality in a VERY difficult position. He's got that subtlety to his play that will really help him forge chances.

Probably the biggest downer of losing tonight is that Palmer will have missed out on possibly 3 or 4 further chances to impress. So now's the time for him to get his head down and force the minutes to come elsewhere.

ive seen you say that a few times and I don’t agree with it mate. I thought his off the ball work was good and he pressed at the right times

The way he runs and the fact he’s quite lanky makes it look like he’s not running as much. He wouldn’t be in a pep side if he didn’t press or track back

from what I remember he missed/ skied one shot that he created
I'm not suggesting he's just stood around waiting for us to get the ball back doing nothing. I'm sure he runs as much as anybody, It's all about the intensity and intent in those runs and press. when we press hard to win it back he's regularly not in sync with the team and his pressing can look a bit powder puff, it seems like he doesnt think he's actually going to win the ball back at times.

Foden had the very same issue when he first came into the side but in a slightly different manner, rather than lacking the intensity, he would sprint after everything, different but the same outcome which was he wasn't in sync with the team and even when he was and he was close to the ball, he would never get near actually winning the ball back, the difference in his out of possession work is night and day now though. A big part of it is filling out his own body and learning how to handle himself against physical freaks of nature which takes every kid time. I've no reason to think Palmer won't improve quickly, in footballing terms, it's a relatively easy thing to pick up but right now it's an expected weakness.

The more I see of this lad the more impressed I am. Cole has a big future ahead of him with us. He has that languid running ability that sees him ghost past players.

Playing the false 9 in a Pep team asks a lot of a player. I thought he was exceptional tonight. He looked the most dangerous of the front 3.

There's a definite pathway for young ones ATM. Gundo, Mahrez KDB all 30 plus,Raz lost it,Ferna, Bernardo we all hope staying but for how long. That's quite a few spots.

The bright spot of a disappointing defeat , looked a threat and looked like he had played a hundred games , very composed , he's onlypotential at the moment but we are lucky to have the best manager in the business for developing/improving players. By the time Pep leaves i am confident we will have a very good footballer added to our exceptional playing squad
