All he needs is game time.
Consistent game time and not just in the CL. I’m not sure that we can continue the policy of waiting until we have a three-goal cushion before introducing McAtee and Nunes earlier in games. If we do, then the senior players will again be exhausted in April/May when Real Madrid appear over the horizon.

I really like the way he plays. Aesthetically pleasing on the ball, works hard and has a good sense of positioning. Impossible to not see David Silva at times.

Some good stuff last night and some not so good in terms of a couple of loose passes and touches but happy to put that down to rustiness.

I feel like he's going to have a breakout game where it all clicks and he makes everyone realise how talented he is.

The weight of pass is like David Silva, makes it perfect for the playing receiving it like the first goal yesterday.

Love to watch him play off a striker with runners out wide, false 9 not the best system for him.

He's got ridiculously quick feet, so many times yesterday he'd get closed down by multiple players or run into traffic and I was sure he'd lose the ball, but he ends up somehow squeezing a perfect pass out of the congestion.

I've never quite seen it with James, but now I think I do. He seems to have strengthened (unsurprisingly I guess, maybe it's just down to him getting older). I got him and Phil mixed up a couple of times during the match, which isnt a bad thing.

Didn't do anything spectacular, but he doesn't need to to be a good player for us. Picking the right option isn't spectacular, but it's what we need. Hope he gets more chances, even if it's last 20 mins quite regularly this season.

Expect him to start against Bratislava and maybe behind Erling.

Reckon that will be a mixed team again. Not quite as youthful as against Watford but would expect McAtee and Nunes to start in that and allow some of the others some rest.

All about rotation across the competitions

Posters may not agree, but I think the loan to Sheffield United has made a difference. He looked like he’d played proper men’s football, compared to some of the other youngsters.

Training with the first team and becoming integrated in the team is vital now.
Significant that he wasn't asked to play on the wing.

I’m hoping that he starts in the next champions league game. Otherwise I just don’t see where the game time is coming from, other than the odd cup game.

Not playing for a month or even coming off the bench isn’t great for his development. Similar for Nunes really. When they do play they lack match sharpness.

It was admittedly a dead rubber, but we started Lewis, Gomez, Phillips, Nunes, Hamilton, and Bobb in Belgrade. We should be comfortable enough to start Nunes, Lewis, and McAtee in Bratislava.

First season 100% but the second season was a total waste

I don’t agree. He was playing pretty much every week. Getting used to top flight football. If he didn’t have that season I’m 100% sure the club and posters on here would be saying he doesn’t that premier league experience.

He wasn’t going to play at city and a loan move to Sheffield United made sense.

He would have been far better at Leicester in the second season where the club wanted him to go.
