Pep is bringing him through perfectly, kid is looking great and will progress. It is him himself who said at the start of the season that he wasnts to stay and learn and that it is not about playing time this season but learning under Pep.

With Sparta and Southampton at home two great opportunities for him to get some good minutes in. Hopefully this is the case, could be a break out year for him as he’s been impressive so far. Looks like the club don’t want to let him go and Peps a fan!

Disappointed not to see him get any minutes yesterday, couldn't have been any less effective than Foden, Gundo etc but we're never going to know as he seems resigned to playing in domestic cup matches only. Can see him wanting more minutes just like Palmer and we lose him next summer and flourishes elsewhere

I don't think there's any need to panic over McAtee. It's a long season with a lot of games in all competitions and the CWC at the end of it. Bobb made 26 appearances last season, 14 in the league and had a couple of headline moments - the winner at St James' being the standout. He then had an incredible pre-season and looked like being a nailed on starter this campaign before his injury. Pep will reward players when the time is right. McAtee is nearly a year older than Bobb but has played a hell of a lot more senior football. I'm sure, to start with we'll see him in the CL in the easier games like tomorrow night and in the league cup and FA Cup. He'll get the odd appearance here or there in the league as well.

It's not working with Gundo at the moment and there are arguments for several to come in ahead of him. But we lost there last season and Pep will have had that on his mind and been risk adverse in his selection - which was ultimately right with the 3pts in the bag.

James will be getting a lot out of training with the first team, playing in the cups and his time with the U21s. We should be looking at his full emergence in 12months time.

Foden came on, looked lively, pinged a beautiful long pass to Haaland that set up the series of corners we had to score the winner and it was Foden’s corner that Stones headed home.

I would have brought McAtee on for Gundo though, I’d start him ahead of Gundo in one of the home games this week.

I’m starting to think that. It’s seemingly impossible for him to get minutes other than the odd cup game. He’s not going to develop or want to stay if it continues. I hope I’m wrong though
