I meant that if he imposed himself on the game a bit more then he would do even better.

He seems able to create/score without really being involved in the game that much - according to OPTA, against Palace he made 18 passes during the 82 minutes he was on the pitch.
Is that not a skill in itself though? I’d also argue with more game time, he’d become more consistent and get on the ball more

gibbs white is back to the bad old days of scott sinclair level signing on the back of a moderately good season from a player
You can just see it happening. Sell Mcatee who ends up being one of the best young players in the bundesliga and then spend 100m on someone who in my opinion isn’t as talented.

It's really hard to assess how good Mcatee is. Partly because he hasn't really imposed himself on games just yet. He has a knack for getting goals and assists though which is really useful. Id keep him around for sure. He's stylistically so similar to Bernardo it's crazy. If he had an engine like Bernardo he could be some player. Anyone know what his running and endurance stats are like?

A load of shit?

He is a player that won't be at the club next season for a reason.

He had a huge chance to become part of this side with loss of form, fatigue and injuries, he simply has not showed enough.

And as I have explained to you many times, he simply does not show enough on the pitch when he has had game time, often goes missing and oftem looks like he is going through the motions.

He is without doubt a talent and will have a great career in the game but at this stage is way off.
Might be harsh but I stand by it. You said he had no personality or passion on the pitch, which I completely disagree with.

He’s barely been given a chance and when he has he often scores or does something. Your expecting consistency from a young player who plays every 6 weeks or so.

You’re describing pretty much every young player at city and in general. Unless you only want ready made players that’s the norm

Even the players we are purchasing for huge amounts of money are inconsistent and go missing - savinho and Doku being perfect examples of that

I’d argue he’s one of the most talented young players we have produced and it’s worth have some patience in developing him into a top player

Keep in mind Bernardo didn't have those energy levels until his mid twenties. At Monaco he kept getting subbed off around the hour mark because he was blowing out of his arse.

Will end up getting sold this summer, which is probably for the best for his career. I don't think he's quite at the level to become a regular starter at City. Also think had Oscar Bobb been fit all season, McAtee would probably have been sold in January.

I get what people mean about him not being as involved throughout the ninety minutes as you'd want but I'd also argue he's been pretty much denied any opportunity to build up momentum in regards to appearances.

But one thing he certainly knows how to involve himself in is the scoreline and due to the other supporting players we keep stocking ourselves up on, that's a pretty damn vital skill for us right now.

Certain people bemoaned a few missed chances against Palace, while ignoring the fact that he was regularly getting in positions to finish off moves. That's not something we get from Grealish, Doku, Savinho, Gundogan or Bernardo.

I think Oscar Bobb will end up being a bigger goal threat. McAtee definitely has the smell of the goal though. I totally agree that him getting into those positions is something we simply haven't seen enough of from the players you've mentioned (although I wouldn't count Bernardo and Gundo because neither has ever really been prolific).

If, in the limited opportunities he's had this season, he's managed to increase his transfer value and can be used as part of a transfer for Wirtz then it won't be as big of a wasted season.

Gundo did have a spell where he was quite prolific and I think McAtee has that similar knack of ghosting into position.

I wouldnt see any harm in retaining him as well as Bobb, if it wasn't for his contract position. He's clearly given himself this season to see if he can breakthrough whilst retaining leverage to leave in the summer, not daft.

I agree, he definitely has that ghosting skill. Personally I'd love to keep him around, but I fear that with only 12 months left on his deal, City will sell him because he won't commit to a new one.

Makes sense why he wouldn't commit - literally had 1 league minute during our historically shit run

Maybe he will, but I’m not sure what that’s based on? Bobb hasn’t played much and I personally see him more as a winger who comes inside, compared to say Mcatee who I see as a creative goal scorer playing in the middle.

It’s based on nothing. I feel like Bobb will end up being the better „ in everything“ compared to any of our offensive players. The amount of times I’ve read that Bobb will surpass this and that guy in this skill and that area is funny.
Bobb looks more like a Bernardo type player

He has that goalscoring knack that can't be taught. Arriving in the right place or being well positioned. An attribute that means we wouldn't miss Erling as much when he's out. An attribute that got Sterling 131 goals for us.
Was also heavily involved in Marmoush and O'Reillys goals.
He deserves to start again vs Everton, will be questionable if Pep makes any changes to the midfield or forward line tbh.

He will be invisible at Everton..
