9 | Erling Haaland - 2023/24

and yet we haven't tried to play Haaland over the top or in behind at all
Thats the problem, Haaland plays best when he's running onto the ball and being provided through ball service like Nunez recieves at Liverpool. But because Nunez is so shite at finishing, the chances are wasted on him.

If Haaland had that sort of direct play given to him, he would score even more than he does now.

The problem is the tactics dictate that Haaland is made to be holding up the ball and to do other things which don't really suit him.

His limitations will always be exposed in big, tight games where there’s no space. It’s on him to improve
He has to learn how to improve his game from outside the box. In big games like these, the opponent wouldn't give him the chance to breathe in the box.

I remember Kun having to drift out of the box just so he could give the opponent some false sense of comfort and next thing you know, he releases a thunder bastard. He had a couple of those against Chelsea.

Drogba and Suarez also had some of those, not quite the same players but still, for a big guy, Haaland plays like the smaller lanky players like Salah and that's a waste of his body mass and frame.

If we don’t whip crosses in to him or through balls we should sell. It’s like playing with 10 men sometimes this season.

It’s madness we don’t play to his strengths

Absolutely anonymous today. He’s 6’5 for fucks sake. At least put yourself about a bit.

This. Never uses his physique. Which is odd when his technique often lets him down. Great goalscorer, but I wonder if the goals are above his XG, seems to miss so many sitters.
