He's an enigma - not a good footballer but can score for fun when in the mood.
I think the way Pep plays him is hurting us and him.
We play him as a lamp post standing in the opposition box as we plod our way forward into a congested third . The rest of the team bar Phil, Rodri and Kdb aren't good enough to exploit the very limited space left or to pick him out with an inch perfect ball.

Completely wasted the way we play. The passes are there to him, but never makes the runs now coz he knows he aint getting it. He's told to play like this, 100%. Look at his first season but more his 2nd season, consistently turned the corner and ran...only to look back and realise the ball wasn't coming. He doesn't even bother anymore really. He did once tonight, never got the ball, then foden and rico got into a moan on the pitch about a similar thing and they scored soon after. These things are contagious.

Usually when he’s had an off night, I moan about the lack of creativity for him, but we can’t say that tonight. He had multiple chances to score.

Unfortunate with his penalty though because when he planted his standing leg, it moved the turf and the ball up.

Agreed. Juli left and we didn't replace. We don't have a Mahrez type at winger who would provide the goals also. If Haaland (or a defender like Stones/Josko) doesn't score, we are easy to defend against.

Needed that penalty to go in and then we might have got the equaliser. Had to wait a long time for it and frustratingly missed it. Luckily those things don't impact him much. Overall though, he seems to really struggle to make an impact against teams willing to just crowd him. With his pace and power he has to keep moving and showing for the ball and trying to take people out of their positions for others to have space. He can't just be static. It must be annoying never getting the ball but he has to keep believing it will come, or sacrifice himself for the team and keep moving. Otherwise it's far too easy for teams to keep their shape.

Selling Alvarez and having no replacement to come in and change things looks a really poor decision by the club.

I've criticized him recently but not today, we played him in behind once and he scored, the few times Ederson went long to him he won it, apart from that he just stood there upfront watching his teammates passing it around and struggling against the Brighto press, it must be so goddamn frustrating for him.
