Adam Johnson

Didn't have a great game but he has the qualities, he'll find his form.

He beat his man 3/3, only Augero and Silva did more dribbles.

My opinion is he had a good game, not as good as some but if he would have scored then people would be wanking now
The stats don't mean THAT much, I personally used to love johnson he was quick, exciting and he's the first person I wanted on the ball. Today, he had none of that and no drive to get past the left back and run on to the ball. Clichy looked more dangerous and just needed the balls played to him a few more times. His two chances have been against Swansea and Wigan, two shit defences, and with the type of player he is I would expect him to do more than just take on a player 3/3 times. I know downing would.

"Some interesting stats

He gave the ball away less than Silva, had the second most shots, was the 4th best passer, was the second best passer in the attacking 3rd, created 2 goal scoring chances for others and was the third highest dribbler" - so your opinion is wrong as the stats suggest he had a positive impact on the game.

Also this season Wigan and Swans have had tight defences apart from when they play us. Guessing you have your opinion on AJ and you won't change that, I bet you were a Dzeko hater last season when his game was good but wasn't scoring goals
Oh my god, read what I am saying, I am a big fan of adam johnson but I preferred him last year to now. What I am saying is he is not performing how he was. He used to get the ball and hit the line, he could go past someone with his left or his right foot, inside or outside of them and was banging shots on target pretty much all of the time. I would say he used to take someone on about 9/10 times a game. And today he managed 3, I want hom to get his form back thats all I'm saying.

Now to your precious "facts" (this is not me hating on AJ just showing facts do not decide who plays well). So your saying that he was a better player than silva today because he gave the ball away less?? Or did he try to pass less times? And were him giving the ball away 15 feet away from a player rather than 1 foot like when silva does?
And how many of these shot were on target, made the keeper struggle or nearly went in? I could shoot the second most times and still not be good.

I want AJ to do well, but he can perform miles better than he did today.

Not good enough for me tbf!!

Like the OP said good as an impact but nowhere near as good to be starting but with internationals and the Napoli game coming up it was probably the right thing to do, to rest Nasri and Dzeko...

dont bother guysss......... cerci is better than johnson and we will get him in january... just hope his price wont go up... because if he plays in the same form he has done during the last part of last season's serie a,surely he is gonna be world class...

To be honest, I'd rather not speculate about a player who we cannot buy for another 6 months.

AJ has the next 6 months, at the very least, to prove to Mancini that he is worth his place in the team and not just on the bench. Like I said previous, I want him to do it.

Is it just me who thinks he is a better impact player than starter? In no way am I slagging the lad off but to me it just seems he plays better when he has a tired defender in front of him, or against teams chasing the game. Does he have to knuckle down a bit more?

THIS IS NOT A SLAGGING AJ THREAD SO IF YOU WANT TO DO THAT THEN GO ELSEWHERE.
I agree. When a left back is fatigued later in the game his trickery can cause havoc when he comes on fresh. But when he starts his lack of pace and strength doesn't allow him to be affective as the left back has gone minute by minute with him from the first ko.

I'm not saying he is shit, just that he doesn't seem to be performing like he was. Stats may tell me different.

Maybe it is because of the way Silva, Dzeko, Nasri and Aguero are playing. To be fair, at the moment they could make any player look shit!

Like any other player he just needs a run in the team regularly to get his old form back. Hopefully with the amount of games we have coming up he should get to play fairly often and should regain that form.

I've always said he is best coming off the bench for us and I stand by that.

He finds great positions but his finishing is not the best.

I agree with a lot of the previous posts. Very often he plays as an individual with his head down trying to beat a man just in front of him. He reminds me of boys in the school playground trying to keep possesion of the ball. He needs to play with more intelligence and awareness of others, get his head up more, and improve his crossing.

Agree but it's only right for the manager to give him a start every now and then because that's what he deserves, if he can find some deadly form he has the ability to change a match as well when you think about it.
