And crucially, both were arguably world class when we bought them. KDB certainly was.
I mean I can't say I ever watched him in the Bundesliga, but even a cursory glance at the stats and the fact that he won the POTS over there while playing for Wolfsburg should have told you everything you needed to know. But no, most English pundits and journalists couldn't see past the fact that he 'failed' at Chelsea (just like Salah did).On form and ability he was probably a top 5 midfielder in world football already when we signed him, that's how good he was I watched a lot of Bundesliga and other European leagues back then, honestly KDB is the best midfielder I've ever seen play in that league if not the very best player.
That is no exaggeration he was world class and outstanding every single game I saw him play for Wolfsburg, if I'd had a an account on here at the time I'd have been amongst the loudest in favour of his signing.
Angelino the LB, but no tend to agree doubt we'll ever see one triggered and pan out. Just an option to have.I don't really get the obsession with buy backs, have we ever used one or planned to use one, other than that right back who we sold after one season and not playing him? (Can't remember his name?) Plus I'm not sure a lot of players would want to come back.

Dibling went to Chelsea and ran back to Saints after about 6 months. Ok Chelsea are a joke but I wonder how he'd cope with our levels of competitionAgree. We should be all over Tyler Dibbling also
The last time i watched him he was garbage, passes going astray, week in the tackle...its a no from me.A big no for me, another Rodwell/Phillips this one.
A talent without a doubt but like many of the English players not much between his ears in football intelligence.
I agree I don't see it but a lot of people in pro football see a special talent, so what do I know!!The last time i watched him he was garbage, passes going astray, week in the tackle...its a no from me.
He's not good enough for that side and never will beI’m a big fan of Macatee but he’s isn’t really getting much of a chance and when he does he seems a bit cba.
The need for Wharton or a Wharton-y player is greater than the need for a Macatee atm.
Zubimendi is a class player but is he quick enough? This would be a project player and we desperately need a Mr. Right Now. It's Zubimendi for me. I would be happy with Wharton before Rodri got injured, as a Rodri backup.
I think that’s an outdated view. I’d argue English players, in particular in the younger age group are some of the most technically gifted and intelligent footballers around.A big no for me, another Rodwell/Phillips this one.

I would say Foden, stones and Lewis are the exception, not the rule.I think that’s an outdated view. I’d argue English players, in particular in the younger age group are some of the most technically gifted and intelligent footballers around.
You only have to look at our own players. Foden, stones and Lewis are unbelievable intelligent football wise.
Pep and the club seem to rate him. Philips and Rodwell were injury prone as well.
It’s not the rule, but there are plenty of English players who are more than intelligent enough football wise to play for us. Some of our best players have been English. Look at the younger age groups and we’re dominating most sides.I would say Foden, stones and Lewis are the exception, not the rule.
I would look at the likes of Rice, talented player but not an intelligent footballer, I would say the same with Bellingham.

Why would pep be interested if he thought he wasn’t technical enough.
I was talking about the younger age groups. Over recent years the England u21,u19, u17 have been winning tournaments with technical players, with lots of football intelligence.Who?
Which English players are dominating and dictating the games of their teams.
We have seen it with the National side, in my lifetime without question technically the best players we have had but against the better quality Nations we get found out, for me it's footballing intelligence.
