Additional time

If the ref adds 10 mins or 1 min, both teams have to play the added time so it's up to us to either score again or keep the ball.
If we had scored again yesterday in added on time no one on here would be moaning.

If people are worried about what time a night game will finish the supporters should be asking for 7.30 kick offs in all games. ( not that anyone will listen )

This is bob on. I’m actually aghast at how idiotic football fans are sometimes. It is no wonder this sport is stuck in the Stone Age when any change is met with attitudes like this.

2022: “Why don’t referees properly track the time wasted and punish players for time wasting tactics?” Said every single fucking person on this forum.

2023: “Why are referees booking players for kicking the ball away? Why is there 10 minutes added on? Ridiculous, the game is gone!”

It’s farcical. What do you people actually want?

I hope every player that kicks the ball away when it isn’t theirs to touch gets booked, relentlessly. I hope every player that feigns injury has to spend a minute on the touch line before coming back on. I hope referees add 15 minutes onto the game if 15 minutes of play have been lost, regardless of who wasted the time, I want matches with a commensurate and equal playing time. I don’t want what just benefits us (though this obviously will for anybody with a brain).

Why do I want this? Because this sport is currently a laughing stock. This stuff has been eradicated in every other sport known to man but not football. And I’m fucking sick of it. The fact other fans are happy to go back to letting wanker teams waste time like utter dicks because they don’t like the fact Arsenal equalised in the 100th minute is so incredibly short-sighted. How can you not remember how fucking frustrating the Everton and Forest games were last year? Goldfish-like memories.

And as for the people saying we’ll only get 4 minutes when we’re losing… tin foil hat myopic nonsense. I will gladly take a bet that we will always get at least 8 minutes of added time in the league when we’re losing, as long as they continue to apply the rules as they currently are.
I think you will find that what people want is a level playing field for all teams.. This will not be the case, the red shirts will be given preferential treatment to try and manipulate the result if at all possible.. Aside from this point I reckon most Blues would generally accept the rule changes ..
my opinion is that they need to stop fucking about with the rules, it’s ruining the game not enhancing it…!

I’d rather play the most amount of minutes with the ball in play as was intended when the laws of the game were originally written.

If you want to wear your tinfoil hat and have a fanny wobble then go for it, you sound like a bellend and your respect is not something I crave. No interest in speaking to you further so I’ll do us both a favour and hit ignore.
Knock yourself out chief. I couldn't give two fucks. I was just trying to say there's got to be a better way than possibly rewarding teams with much needed extra time as a reward for creating that extra time by employing time wasting, shithousing tactics during the 90 minutes of play. You decided my opinion was worthy of being derided so that's on you if I don't appreciate it and come back at you. That said, do what you have to do, no worries here...

Here's an idea. Track stoppage time for each side separately. Add back only the time "wasted" or lost by the team that is ahead. The time wasted by the trailing side is lost. In the event the game is even then play the entire amount of stoppage, fair play. Let's see how desperate some teams would be to waste time then. Who knows, when facing the likes of us nothing may act as a deterrent to these type of tactics...

Agreed! Sometimes we think the new rules are conspiring against us. But if we win a match by those exact rules, I wouldn’t see many on here complaining.

There is much more play now since the laws changed in 1992 in particular, so we get far more playing time in the 80s.

Having 20 percent added on past the 45 is a complete game changer and will have unintended consequences, but in effect it allows more beer time for those who go at 35, 40 & 45. There is a big boredom factor in a game won but 10 are added, especially if the winning team has made their subs to go into energy save mode as we do, then the 10 comes up. 10 has been common in second halves so far even without VAR.

The way it is going the extra playing time will lead to extra breaks and quarters for advertisers, which was heavily predicted as the direction of travel in 1994 with the US world cup and relaunch of 11 aside in the MLS.

Talk of bringing in the "new rules" usually come in AFTER we've been done. Armpit offsides, rags goal in the last derby and off course the 'handball penalty' at Wembley!!!
