Additional time

Talk of bringing in the "new rules" usually come in AFTER we've been done. Armpit offsides, rags goal in the last derby and off course the 'handball penalty' at Wembley!!!
Laportes hand ball v Spurs to put us 2-0 I think at the time was one of the worst decisions I’ve ever seen due to a new law change

Do you think it's just part of the game that City on average play 60 minutes ball in play and Newcastle play 51 minutes?
Yes completely some teams can compete with us on the pitch and if they get a goal against us then they are fighting for their lives for the points. That would boost morale across a team that fought together to get a win agaisnt us. It’s always been part of the game.

Having this rule will affect most things like transports and people who bring their kids to mid week games leaving even later from the game.

The key thing about wasting time is to disrupt the rhythm of the game or the opponent, to stop the game for somebody’s boot coming off is ridiculous, had it been an injury for anything other the head should not be stopped. This theory that we will benefit is nonsense as we will also be knackered with the additional time added on and will result in more injuries

Probably been said already but this additional time rule is scary for the better teams.

If you are likely to be leading at 90mins it only benefits your opposition.

If you time waste against a better team to "have a go" for the last five mins it benefits you.

If you play in less games for the season it benefits you.

Also, it gives greater control to the match officials to implement their desire for an outcome linked to their idea of "entertainment value".

If the above isnt true then why not have an official timekeeper so when play stops the clock stops, so no need for guessing added time etc.......is it cos they dont want to relinquish this control.

Somone told me that we only actually played seven minutes extra yesterday, is this because arse scored and penalties was deemed good entertainment.

If arse hadnt scored would we have had eight mins + more added? who knows, but I dont trust it myself.

Hope the club have someone to collect stats to see how it is used for various clubs/situations.

It could make for interesting reading.
Be careful...you'll be ridiculed for having this opinion...

I think you will find that what people want is a level playing field for all teams.. This will not be the case, the red shirts will be given preferential treatment to try and manipulate the result if at all possible.. Aside from this point I reckon most Blues would generally accept the rule changes ..
my opinion is that they need to stop fucking about with the rules, it’s ruining the game not enhancing it…!

My honest personal opinion (and it is only my opinion) is that they don’t fuck about with the rules nearly enough because they’re too worried about the constant stream of fans telling them to stop fucking about with the rules.

This conservative protectionism of the worst parts of the game is how we’ve ended up with one of the most petulant, unsporting and inequitable sports in the modern world. And in some instances it makes the games totally unwatchable (see any game featuring Athletico Madrid for an example).

Because of the preciousness of football fans, they’re fucking terrified of implementing simple things like a stop clock and they are about 30 years behind other sports when it comes to using technology.

So yes, please fuck about and try new things because the sport badly needs fixing in drastic ways, and it ain’t getting fixed by officials sitting on their hands determined to use the same rules we were using when people were kicking pig’s bladders around in 1862.

Whilst I understand the view, rule changes affect both teams and teams will have to find how to make it work for them both.

It's a bit like saying one team is affected by the weather when they're BOTH affected!

We are a very athletic team.

Here's an idea. Track stoppage time for each side separately. Add back only the time "wasted" or lost by the team that is ahead. The time wasted by the trailing side is lost. In the event the game is even then play the entire amount of stoppage, fair play. Let's see how desperate some teams would be to waste time then. Who knows, when facing the likes of us nothing may act as a deterrent to these type of tactics...
Stop talking sense :)

Have they just given up on the rugby tackles in the box from corners now?
They never did get that sorted so they've moved onto another batch of "rules/laws" instead.
All same old hot air spouting from the authorities to make themselves look like they doing a good job with our national sport again

On this we agree...

Fair enough, we all have opinions, mine is just the polar opposite to yours :-)
