Adebayor charged (Merged)

Re: Breaking News. Adebayor charged with ...

sounds like a typical rag knows nothing about his own team so makes it up. he got a 5k fine and a warning about his future conduct!

Re: Breaking News. Adebayor charged with ...

Neville received no ban for that incident.

To be fair, the two charges are justified.

With such a high profile match with tensions from former players appearing against their previous clubs, the little things are always going to be picked up on. The RVP "stamp" was deliberate, although not perhaps as subtle as Ade intended. From some angles and at full speed you could claim it was accidental, or he was trying to avoid standing on him for example, but from another you can clearly see the twist of the ankle and the additional force put in to the "step". Yes, there are countless events that go in in games which should be punished that don't, but the fact is his foot intentionally caught him on the head whilst he was on the floor and drew blood. Violent conduct = three game ban. Sorry but it's true!

Regarding the celebration, he shouldn't have done it, it was wrong and it caused trouble. Ade had already been talking in the press about how the fans hate him which would have antagonised the crowd further. You are always going to have the "banter" from the fans but to be honest it goes way too far sometimes, even from City fans. The City players, Toure, Given and Bellamy amongst others realised the seriousness of the incedent and very quickly pulled him away. Again, this kind of incident is not without precedent, but after the West Ham/Millwall debacle the FA are taking a hard line on incitement and crowd unrest. If we're lucky we'll get away with claiming it should only be a fine/wrist slapping but I can see a ban for this too in the current climate.

We aren't powerful enough to blag our way out of this yet, we might not have high profile members of our board or fans in high positions in the FA, but the fact remains that both incidents were wrong and if it happened the other way round we'd be screaming for punishment to be handed out. It is going to be a long, hard season and we will do ourselves no favours with incidents like this. As a club we need to be 100% above board on all issues on and off the field, whiter than white and rise above it all, otherwise we're just giving them ammunition to shoot us down. Rose tinted spectacles off guys, this is now where it gets serious....

It's not Ade's fault the arse fans are animals. UNLIKE the Man city fans who can keep themselves under control.

Never said it wasn't mate, some of their fans were bang out of order - if you read the second sentence I wrote after the one you highlighted:

You are always going to have the "banter" from the fans but to be honest it goes way too far sometimes, even from City fans..

Some of our fans are just as bad, we claim to be impeccable but "those songs" are still sung on derby day...You can't have it both ways! If you think they're out to get us (whoever "they" may be) then the best way to respond is with dignity and respect.

It's stupid that we keep getting fed the referee's decision is final and yet they carry out these retrospective fines

Flabbergasted!

When is The FA prevented from taking action?
FIFA guidelines aimed at avoiding the “re-refereeing” of matches generally
prevent The FA from taking disciplinary action on incidents which are seen and
dealt with at the time by the match officials (this includes taking no action). As a
general rule, if the match officials see an incident and have jurisdiction to take
action, The FA cannot act retrospectively.
For instance, these guidelines prevent The FA from upgrading/downgrading
yellow and red cards based on retrospective advice provided by the match
referee.

This is copied from their owned fcukin rule book.

Tossers.

An FA spokesman said: "The Football Association can only take action in the case of incidents that are not seen by officials.

"Whilst it is clear that the officials did not see the full extent of the incident, they did see players coming together
and to take any further action would be tantamount to re-refereeing the game and this would be contrary to the laws of the game." No blame has been attached to Atkinson for his failure to take action against Barton as he was unable to see the incident clearly from his position.

I mean christ. Let's have some kind of consistency.

Just wait for them to announce they are bringing back Miley Riley for the derby to give him a proper send off.

Okay being sarcastic there, but they are so bent, you wouldnt put it past the FA.

Fuming here with the charge for improper conduct, a complete injustice and breaking thier own rules (again for Man City). SWP kicks delap- Ban, Ronaldo kicks 2- No ban, Neville 5k fine for celebration, Ade - possible ban.

Will wait and see City's response to this but i really hope they take the hard line approach with the FA

Re: Breaking News. Adebayor charged with ...

Someone help me out here.....trying to recall an incident last season. I think it was at Anfield (might have been v Chelsea) some player went flying recklessly in down near the corner flag on an opponent (a gazillion times more blatant and obvious than Ade's big boot shuffle). This player wasn't even booked if I remember correctly and it certainly wasn't subject to a fast-track, media railroading, eternal-loop-on-Sky circus like this has been.

Who was it??

Re: Breaking News. Adebayor charged with ...

In my view the ref had an excellent game in fact the play on for Adey's goal was top class

With the RVP incident then Clattenburg is in my view claiming that he didn't see the flick of Adey's foot, that is hardly surprising since it was so slight, and that he was waving play on following the reckless tackle by RVP. The picture on here is showing them both returning to RVP once play stopped, the question I would ask of the Ref is why he didn't take any action for the tackle by RVP as he did see that. Nor did he take any action when RVP left the field of play to celebrate in front of the City fans, despite this being an automatic booking, would RVP have been charged if the City fans reacted the same way as the Arse fans?

So the FA are correct in charging Adey and the way the system works, having now been charged, he has until 6pm tomorrow to present his defence and cannot have a personal hearing. So what defence does he have? Well he either did it or not, only one person knows the truth. So if he didn't stamp on him and was only adjusting his position then he should say so, and point out that he should only be found guilty if they can do so without resonable doubt. City should also tell The FA that they will be looking for fairness and expect that all similar incidents are dealt with in exactly the same way. I would also ask The FA if any charge of bringing the game into disrepute is to be made against Arsenal and RVP for the statement on their website.

With respect to the celebration charge then this will be delay since the reply is not required until end of the month He can ask for a personal hearing admit the charge but present mitigating circumstances show he has applogised immediately and cite other instances of a similar nature where no action was taken or only a fine imposed Lets face it if the Arse fans had not reacted so vilolently then little would have been made of this and Adey can hardly have been expected to anticipate the reaction of the idiots.

1 problem with that Kramer, he waved play on in favour of Arsenal, not City. Therefore he saw the coming together which is what Project has pointed out.
