Adebayor to Spurs

You know... I watched the Champions League draw this morning and I was so happy. Didn't care that we drew a strong group. I look forward to watching the games.

This, though, has me irrationally pissed. I mean so angry I wanted to throw my computer monitor. I hate the spuds. I hate them at least as much as I hate the rags. If Redknapp was on fire, I would piss on him only because I know that wouldn't put the fire out and it would make his corpse smell even worse. I hate them all. Helping them do anything other than to a wretched end is like a knife to my soul.

This is exactly my view on this deal. I cannot think of a worse club (other than the rags) to have loaned him too. He will score goals in that side and pick up a lot of points courtesy of him. I just hope we steam roller them on Sunday to give ourselves a nine point gap over them.
Spurs are no threat to us, now. They are to liverpool and arsenal though so it's not as bad as it might seem, if you don't like those teams either.

It's very likely Spuds are only paying a small part of his wages, they can't afford to pay him more than certain players on their books, probably due to clauses in their own player's contracts regarding pecking orders on who has to be the largest earner at the club. So it's likely they pay City a large loan fee which is actually his full wages which City then pay to Adebayor as wages

Hope the fickle twat enjoys his time at the lane with 'arry and the rest of the boys. Remember this Ade???

None of the players we loan out will come back to haunt us and Ade will be no different.

As Spurs will never be able to afford him on a permanent basis if he does well and can patch up his differences with RM he may get some game time with us next season especially if we lose Tevez.

I will admit to feeling somewhat disgruntled. I mean... how do we win here? His wages don't count in FFPR because he signed before the period. He's got what? Two years on his contract left?

My understanding is that, that is not how the FFPR rules work. The wages we pay on him during his loan (lets say 25%-or 1.7 million pounds) do NOT count towards FFPR. Because the Sheik has a ton of money, the team does not care as much about this money. The wages the Spurs pay for him this season(lets say 75%--or 5 million pounds) DO count as profit for FFPR. As does any loan fee (lets say 3 million). The loan fee makes up for the wages we pay for and allows the Spurs to stay within their wage structure.

If Ade is crap we are back here next season trying to get rid of him one last time having used Ade to contribute 8 million pounds to FFPR without doing us any harm (because he is crap). The Sheik loses the transfer fee we are hoping for this season but again the Sheik's loss is not nearly as important to the club as the FFPR profit which again is 8 million.

If, however, Ade is good, he helps the spurs fight for the fourth spot in the league against while we fight for the title. This deal hurts all four of our rivals more than it hurts us which (considering we have 3-4 real rivals) more than mitigates the risk of giving the Spurs a helping hand. Plus, in this scenario, the Spurs can buy him for 10 million or so next summer. Overall that is 18 million pounds towards FFPR as opposed to the 10 we MAY have been able to get him for a straight sale this year.

I am right in assuming Adebayor will not play against us in ALL competitions
(Carling and FA cup) not just the league?
What's the chance of him waving to us on Sunday afternoon after our 2-0 win?
How would you wave back?

I keep hearing this, but I am not so sure.

With the players we have, no team in the Premiership should be a threat to us. But as we all know, it doesn't quite work like that. In the medium to long term, I am sure this will be true and we will start to dominate the league. But we are not yet the finished article.

Spurs on the other hand have been consistently better than us for the past 30 odd years, barring 1 year, last year. And last year they were plagued with defensive injury problems and didn't have any decent strikers. And they had the CL to keep them busy.

With no defensive injuries, no CL and with the addition of a decent striker (and make no bones about it, Ade is VERY decent when he wants to be), they will be quite a handful.

I would not be staggered to see Spuds finishing ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal, and god-forbid City if we tool it in in any way. Sunday should be quite interesting to see how far we have come on. Traditionally we'd be sure to lose that game. They totally battered us last year and were it not for Hart on speed we could have lost 5-0.

Better we lose the 3 million and keep some respect I say.

So people are going to be happy loaning tevez to inter or some club in brazil because that is what is coming next if we go down this road.

If it's happening fine there is nothing we can do about it but at least be honest and say it how it is. You can't put lipstick on a pig.

Ideally we'd like to sell the likes of Tevez and Adebayor. Unfortunately it seems there aren't any buyers out there. Therefore, a loan is the next best option because it:
1. Removes the wages (or a portion thereof) off the wage bill.
2. Removes an unhappy player from the squad.
3. Puts the player in the shop window for another potential buyer when the loan period ends.

Adebayor's wages do not currently count in FFP calculations. If we loaned him out and paid half, they WOULD be countable in FFP calculations.

Us loaning him to Spurs, in reality, would mean that we would loan a top striker to a rival and we would pay for the privilege.

This is why this is a load of shit.

Are you still convinced that City aren't paying anything towards the Adebayor deal. I know you and Ian Ladyman were of this view, but are you still of this view?

Just interested. I could do with hearing that we're not subsidising a rival and, like you, otherwise I think this deal is shit.
