Adebayor's ban

Don't know about the 'stamp'. I've seen one replay from a strange angle and it looked like his foot came down very quickly. I couldn't say for sure though. I'm sure Vidic would be let off.

Re: the 'celebration' though, it was completely classless and the bloke has made a clown of himself. No doubt all the people who think it was brilliant were booing Dickov for celebrating in front of the Leicester fans when he scored and booing Dickov for having the cheek to come back with another team. They might have even been the same ones who threw the toys out of the pram when SWP left, just because he left.

I would be all for a ban for that sort of 'celebration'. It was petty beyond belief.

Saying all that, we all know that Gary Neville didn't get one (and I don't think Henry did either when he did something similar against Spurs). So, we'll no doubt see a further example of one rule for the rags and one rule for others coming up sometime soon.

The other day, I argued against a moronic poster about emotion running high with a player when he feels tied to a club. I would say that same here, JMA. It was a reaction to over a year's worth of abuse, that was unjustified in Adebayor's eyes. I can only support how he felt at the time and understand it, but not condone it. As we know, as a result, stewards were caught up in a dangerous meleé.

The man apologised profusely after he'd calmed down and that's what mattered. If he'd not done so, I'd fully agree with.

But, not on this occasion.

However, as has been said before, Mr Neville may well come to City's rescue, yet again! I suggest City take the F.A. to court if they try the ban. We should fight it on the same grounds as that Chuckle and Lampard's cases. The F.A. pretty much know they've made a rod for their own backs and will have to change the laws in the off season.

5 game ban would be VERY harsh, cant see that to be honest but you never know with the FA. The celebration was mint though, got to be worth a 1 game ban to see the cockneys crying like they were.
I'm predicting 3 for the stamp and 2 for the celebration. We can all woman and moan about it on here til the cows come home, but a ban is coming so you're all best off just getting used to it and giving the implausible excuses a rest.

The media are gunning for us now and we all know that means FA action is inevitable.

Interestingly though, Tyson was given a couple of weeks to respond to his improper conduct charge, so this shouldn't have any impact on the derby next week.

He will def get banned I agree, just think an unprecedented 5 game ban would be harsh.

He won't get banned for the celebration.

However a 3 match ban for the stamp is a certainty. If it comes after the United game then I'd feel a little easier about it given the games we have.

I agree with this. But the blatant CHEATING by the FA really disgusts me. The rules clearly state that they can only impose sanctions in cases where the referee or match officials did not see an incident.

It is 100% cast iron certain that the ref DID see it - he was staring straight at it, 2 yards away FFS!!!!!!

Yet this will be ignored and they will yet again make the rules up as they go along. The thing that's really really really really really really offensive is that we all know had it been Shrek doing the stamping, nothing would be done.

This concept of "the referee saw it so no further action can be taken" has been proven several times in the past to be nonsense; twice involving ourselves.

I hope they don't seek anything extra for the celebration but there are plenty of precedents that suggest they can and will do.

My personal opinion on the celebration subject is that certain supporters need to grow the fuck up. They dish out vile abuse for 90 minutes but the sight of a man on a football pitch sliding on his knees causes them to internally combust. It's pathetic. And I said the same thing when the Chuckler did it against Liverpool. The scousers' reaction to a 'man' celebrating a last-minute goal within the confines of the pitch was unbelievably petty and childish.

Unfortunately, though, the FA have a different view on these things and Adebayor knew that full well.

All true, but Ade was thinking with his heart

Agreed. Yesterday I said the F.A. would look at it as an 'incitement to riot'(I don't know where that post went!) especially as a steward was hurt. Had there been no casualty it would have been easier to deal with.

Unfortunately I have moved from a "will he get a ban?" point of view yesterday, to a "how long's he going to get" point of view.

Because of the celebration thing as well as the blatant stamp (and it was a blatant stamp imho, no matter what we might pretend), 3 games will be very very very fortunate. I fear it's going to be 5 at least, and maybe even more.

I won't be shocked if he gets 8.

What I can´t stand is the sheer fookin inconsistency in all this video evidence - the coonts pick and choose what they want to review - for eg. in the Scum game Vidic quite clearly put his elbow straight through Crouch´s face - are the press asking for that to be looked at? (rhetorical)

You watch that vid back at normal speed. You have to be some kind of genius to know where RvP's face was going to be as he slid in as reckless as he did! RvP came in from the side and Ade didn't see him. The man's balance was all over the place. I truly think he saw RvP at the last possible moment as he planted his foot for balance. But, seeing him and trying to balance caused weird movement of foot.

No malice at all.
