Kolarov is Javier Garrido on steroids. Pussyfoot about for 90 mins and pull out the odd left footed rocket once a season.

In fairness, this season has been his best for us by a mile which says a lot. But how MP has him down as captain when Vincent or Yaya aren't there, baffles me. Especially with Zab on the pitch, he's too humble to show it but that must boil his piss.

Be fair oakie..I feel your hate! This guy has put a lot of miles in this season..he needs a rest.surprised he played again today.
No Stevie I can honestly say I don`t hate the guy,but never been a fan either. At the beginning of the season he was bombing down that left flank with Sterling and I thought he`d been at the fucking drugs or had a transplant off a fucking Roadrunner Bird !!
I just get so annoyed with his attitude and lack of work ethic (certainly his defensive duties) and without doubt he`ll not be alone in possibly being moved on in the summer, unless as you say Pep also see`s something in him that most of us can`t.

Did he do anything wrong today. Thought he got forward well, and passed the ball very well - much more of an attacking threat than Zabaleta for example

Chelsea got in continually by exploiting the space behind our full backs - but that's not Kolarov' fault. Chelsea played that very well, and exploited our lack of pace at centre-back

I went today with a mixed group of City and Chelsea fans. I was in the west stand quite close to the pitch, around the halfway line.

On my way home, I was thinking just how well Kolarov had fared in the first half (noticeable when he was on my side of the pitch). I think his talking to the players around him, his movement and his tackle on Costa were first class. That tackle was to let Costa know he was there backing up the kids, and it worked at least for a while.
Sorry Kolarov haters, he led fantastically today, and if he does get to play in Kiev off the back of todays performance he fully deserves it.

I have also just watched the BBC highlights on the web... What bollocks, if that is what they showed on TV, the lads did well, very well, they were let down by the experienced lads (Zabba who was as steady as could be expected in the circumstances and Alex apart)

If you read this Alex.. well done today !
Great post mate.

We will have to agree to disagree, he was forced to do far more defensive work (as opposed to his overlapping) and did it well. He marshalled the young lads and led. No way was he ever going to be able to attempt to play his (City's) normal way. You have to take the circumstances into account and ocassionally take off any preconceived bias.

He is still the best left back at this club, and probably the best left back we have had for many years.
Take my hat off to you sir..another fantastic post.

It's a pretty damning statement when Koralov is considered the best left back in the club. Vastly over rated in my view and should go back to the Italian league where thevpace and tempo of the game is more suited to his lumbering style of play

Best left back in the Prem mate.

Unfortunately I can't agree with this first statement. Kolarov DID play his normal game. Taking the circumstances into account, he didn't attack much at all, because he couldn't, because we had to remain "solid" at the back. So what does the rest of Kolarov's usual game involve? Feign a pass or a run forward, and then drag it back and pass inside.

I'm not even sure he was ignoring our youngsters, I just think it's so heavily engrained in him to pass back inside that he didn't think to do anything else. Had he realised that the youngsters on our left were there to go forward and that the player he was passing inside to (Fernando) is generally shite, we might have seen something different from him and had more joy.

I despair now, just despair. The amount of times Pedro made that run off the back of him was draining to say the least.

Personally found it odd than Kolarov was given the armband ahead of Zabaleta, but this thread reminds me why we binned the player topics.

They tend to just result in arguments and slagging off that's rarely constructive or considered. Just people ranting and trying to outdo each other in how much they dislike a player.
Under pellegrini Kolarov has always been third in line.

The lumbering and slow Italian league. A country that has produced many more world cup and Euro success than England ever has !

I can't believe he's survived as long as he has. Far too many mediocre to woeful performances in terms of technique and awareness, and way too slow.
Not his biggest fan but some of the criticism he is getting is a bit harsh. With respect to the left back position for next season can't see both incumbents being still around with Kolorov most likely to leave.

Agreed Peter about Italy having more success but it's that countries ability to produce more Individual World Class players and better defensive play.

When Kolorov leaves he will go back to Italy where he will not be exposed as much as he is in the EPL. Horses for courses. Channel 4 soon dropped Covering Italian football because it's a Zzzzzzzzzzz

When he wants to play he is very useful. Quite simply has an attitude or heart problem. Technically a good player but lacks the desire/ambition to really be considered great. AK is frustrating because he has talent others like Fernando are frustrating because they have none and you're left wondering how did they get to play at this level.
