Alex Scott new host of Football Focus

She seems to get overvalued as a pundit precisely because she's a woman. If a bloke came out with the same stuff she does, they'd be labelled as dull and pointless. Points out the obvious, keeps it safe and adds next to nothing. She's the female equivalent of Ashley Cole.

There's worse about, much worse but she's far from being good. Is she any better as a presenter? No idea but if it stops her being a pundit give her a shot.

Chappers is by far the best sports presenter, his football and nfl coverage is unparalleled.
Yeah agree with that. Previous NFL coverage has felt a bit babyish. He has a laugh but asks decent questions, and you can tell by the pros they have on it that they are decent questions. They handled BLM really well as a programme allowing for conflicting views on "taking a knee", etc, which were sensitively handled and chaired by him. Great show.

Nothing to do with her being a women , next to the men who are walking clićhes she is a breathe of fresh air

i hate this fucking notion she and other women get jobs because they are women and not that they have earned it , dinoseur thinking, the glass ceiling is hard enough

Sexist twaddle

Just a case of someone in the BBC recruitment section looking for a rise for being so 'up to date' with women being posted into what have historically been male posts, just because he / she can. Even John Motson said that a female voice doesn't sit at all well with mens football.

I'm old enough to remember when tv added the 'ex professional' to sit at the side of the commentator and add his views. At first people thought it odd to have someone broadcasting who perhaps didn't speak as well as might be expected. But the stations explained that the broadcaster was the professional in the commentary box and the ex-pro was there to add the tactical knowledge that the broadcaster wouldn't have had.

If you accept that and it seems reasonable to me, then it's fairly easy to go down this path

flyer to BBC ' I used to play football, can I have a job as an ex player'
BBC to flyer 'I'm sorry flyer, but you never really played at a high standard did you?'
flyer to BBC 'Well womens football is of a very low standard, comparatively, probably high non-league or League Two at best, so why do you keep appointing women to senior positions'

Can't imagine Marcus Barnes of Oldham Athletic for example will be on MOTD anytime soon, can you?
