Absolutely. In the history of politics, every party that has fucked up the economy has paid the price at the following election. People have long memories when disaterous decisions are made that directly impact them.Sunak is now surely going to win. I think he’s fucked at the next election regardless, but hope he shows a bit of moral backbone and excludes some of the extremists who populated Johnson and Truss’ cabinets and makes a fresh start. The likes of Patel, Braverman, Rees-Mogg etc should never see office again.
It doesn't matter who the tories elect as the new PM, the damage is done, and if we have power cuts this winter, their recovery will be even further away.
Sunak may bring a bit of reality into the world if he is elected, but it will be too little too late for most people.
Their only consideration at the moment is their preservation of power. They couldn't give a stuff about how their policies have impacted so many lives in a negative way during their years of tenure, and the infighting between the factions within their party will continue unabated.
They are in chaos. The divisions between them are so acute they will never agree on anything, and the confusion between them isn't going to appeal to the many that are now struggling to make ends meet.
