I think the phrase 'being held against his will' is a bit over the top. It's not like he's in chains. He's probably already been told that he can go overseas if a suitable bid comes in, but the club do not want to strengthen a rival. It's not really keeping him a prisoner is it. It looks like he's accepted the decision.
