It's in the arses favour to drag it out exactly because it will be more difficult to do on a game day,they don't want him to leave after all

I imagine they are trying to get Thomas Lemar and that the Sterling rumours were part of Arsenals strategy to look like they were after other pacey wingers.

But demonstrates to any future potential signings what a piss poor club Arsenal/Wenger etc are to be joining.

Why would any decent player want to be part of such a shambolic set-up ?

i would have thunk the same, but after the hiding they got at liverpool i just think an about turn has been made now. i dont actually think they want him anymore. as crazy as it is to say it, but my guess is the "team have had enough of the alexis bullshit move" is accurate.
its very telling that this whole situation turned on its head after the liverpool game. maybe arsenal had some long term sneaky plan to sell him all along, but that game has sealed it. in my opinion :)

My point is we'll never know. People who just say "just pay the asking price, it's not my money" don't seem to be able to think past their immediate wants, like small children.
