Angel Di Maria

He could well be a great signing for them, but this just papers over the cracks of their biggest problem which is defence and midfield. Look at these positions and ask would any if the current players get into the teams of the teams that finished above them last season, and apart from perhaps Shaw the answer is no. They can buy as many attacking players as they like but if they can't stop goals going in the other end they have a huge problem, and even with signing De Maria, for me the current squad they have won't get top 4

not many wingers make that big of an impact in the prem.

I know it has been said a hundred times already but it really does bear repeating. He just isn't the player they need.

They could have got Hummels, Khedira and De Jong for around the same money.

I disagree, they do need pace in their attack imo. Though they could have probably bought someone like Depay or Firmino and still had a lot of money left over.

If I were them I would buy a top quality DM and just hope that the defense won't be too bad and that the attack will score a lot of goals.
What's odd about it for me is that Di Maria has been available for some time, but they've just moved right at the last minute, and they bought Rojo on the basis of a 3-4-1-2. This is a reaction to their poor start.

They've overpaid perhaps, but the important thing is to get quality players in, and he is quality. The points about it not being enough may well be valid, but the window hasn't shut yet.

Fee of £59.7m agreed between Real and Man Utd for Di Maria, pending medical. Transfer now a formality

I think he is worth every penny.
Sorry but, as much as I rate him, he's not worth 3 Silvas

Wonder how much Silva would go for now? Wouldn't be £20 million, that's for sure.

the 80million fee for dimaria is extravagant to say the least, in line with every other ManU transfer this summer.....

DiMaris does not even fit into the ManU tactical line up.... 3x4x1x2 ... no wingers there..... this is a very strange transfer in my opinion

Actually I think they overpaid and got chewed up on both the rojo, shaw, and herrera deals as well.... with that kind of money they could have invested so much better... I could name 4 names off the bat that would have costed less than Rojo that could have strengthened their squad better.....

Where are the other CBs? the wing backs? defensive midfielder? its going to be a fiasco this season... auto-destruct mode on...

They are still targeting a CM, Vidal I think and a CB, not sure who. I think they will push their summer spending close to 200m! Insane.

Having said that Di Maria is worth the British record price. Definitely worth it for a team like us that could use his directness and fast tricky wing play. Adds another dimension to our play and upgrade on Navas. Just not sure where he would fit on the rags, if he plays left side CM or left wingback, it would be a waste of his offensive abilities.

He would be around 35-45m at my guess. If he helps us get to the CL final stages and performs brilliantly in the final then it adds another 10m at least.
