Just too good to be turned down. 40M? GET HIM

It's a good job we've not got someone with your grasp of 'front threes' in charge of handing out £40m fees.

LOL.

Real Madrid have placed a £40 million price-tag on the head of Argentian winger Angel Di Maria as they look to fend off interest from Arsenal and Manchester United, according to the Express.

Di Maria was heavily linked with a move to the Gunners last summer, but the departure of then team-mate Mesut Ozil to Arsenal meant Di Maria was unable to move. He has been used in the vast majority of games this season under Carlo Ancelotti and Di Maria was the stand-out player for Real in winning the Champions League Final, in which he claimed the man of the match award.

Ancelotti is planning a major summer clear-out and surprisingly Di Maria is thought to be at the top of the list. Di Maria, who recently expressed his displeasure at being linked with Tottenham, is unsure of his future and admits he will leave all transfer talk to his represenatatives.

Di Maria admitted last month: “I am not going to lie, I know that there are clubs that want to sign me and can match Real Madrid’s demands.

“But that’s up to my representatives and the club. I will stay if the club wants me to stay.

“I am not thinking about my future now. We will see what Madrid have in mind, whether they want me to stay or leave.”

Di Maria played a significant role as Real clinched the Champions League against Atletico last month but he could still be on the move as Real boss Carlo Ancelotti attempts to make room for new signings. Luis Suarez remains top of his wanted list and Ancelotti is prepared to let Di Maria move on for a fee in the region of £40 million if City are prepared to match it.
Arsenal and Manchester United are also tracking the winger but could be reluctant to pay that much, leaving the door open for Manuel Pellegrini to swoop. The 26-year-old will again face a battle for his place at the Bernabeu as Gareth Bale and Ronaldo continue to shine, so a switch to the Premier League cannot be ruled out. Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain could also offer him the chance of a move to France, but City would be confident of fighting off their interest.

Strange one this.

If he went to Arsenal or United then he would obviously improve them but nowhere near enough to be a threat to us. If we signed him, then he could very well be the Cherry on top with knobs on !

Sadly with only £49M to play with, it seems like a non starter.

£49m nett of sales

If this is a go-er I can see us sacrificing Jovetic or Negredo which would bring in around £20-£25 m

I did know that George.

With money obviously committed to Fernando and a centre half we aren't really going to fetch in nearly enough from sales to afford a player like this unless we lose a couple of those most of us don't really want to see leave.

jovetiic Negrado or Di Maria no brainer for me, personally I don't think we can afford to let him go elsewhere

I wouldn't be too upset to see this line-up come the start of the season. Personally, I think we could be saying goodbye to Yaya after the world cup, so if that is the case, maybe we can thrash out a deal for Di Maria.
Yaya is pretty much irreplaceable like-for-like, but our Brazilian duo could be very powerful and I wouldn't underestimate how accomplished Fernando is and how strong and effective he could be for us.
Di Maria would provide plenty of width, skill and pace to an already well stocked group of attacking players, the problem is a lack of quality cover in central midfield and I don't know how we'd get around that with our FFP restraints.
If Yaya stays, possibly raise the cash for Di Maria by selling Milner, Rodwell/Garcia and one of either Jovetic/Dzeko or Negredo.
I have a feeling Mangala will join us. Without any direct quotes from the player, IMO I'd say all the stories of preferring London or the rags to us is just a smoke screen, as are all the links with Benatia. I'll probably be wrong on all accounts though!!

Although i do not want the beast to go i'd see him go to Atletico for around 25-30 ( that we can squeeze out of the deal, cuz they have no strikers). Only then can i see Negredo go.

Yaya and Negredo out for £60 million

Di Maria, Mangala/Benatia, Sagna, Fernando and another young forward in for just shy of £110 million

I'd keep them both and just stick with the plan that is going on now: Fernando, Sagna, Zuculini, keeper and a defender.

The keeper question is worrying, that we are not taking up a young keeper for cheap and not buying one for 5-8m, like Willy
