Di Maria signs for the scum; Baloteli signs for the scousers - a few years ago it might have been a concern, but, now?
Frankly my dears, I couldn't give a damn!

Thinking the exact same.

If they sign Vidal and Benatia as well then I might...

We have apparently turned down Di Maria twice and with very good reason. It has nothing to do with FFPR, which has made no difference at all to our business in the window. Maybe those who believe it has could explain how on earth UEFA decided that we could spend 60 million euros in the window, if we didn't tell them that was what we planned to spend whatever they said! City have strengthened the squad in positions where we needed depth and have completed the squad by getting our "spine" to commit themselves to the club almost to the end of the decade. Pellers now has his squad of 22 to work with long term and the good times could really start to roll! Di Maria is a good player but who would the manager leave out for him? City aren't going to pay the silly money Real want for a player we don't need.

Its 1 if we break even .....which the owners fully expect.

Is it 1 year or 1 window, i.e. are we unrestricted in the January 15 window assuming we have broken even in the latest financial year?
According to the OS it's this window only, according to the UEFA statement it's :-
Manchester City agrees to significantly limit spending in the transfer market for seasons 2014/2015 and 2015/2016. Manchester City further accepts a calculated limitation on the number of new registrations it may include within their “A” List for the purposes of participation in UEFA competitions. This calculation is based on the clubs net transfer position in each respective registration period covered by this agreement.
I'm guessing it's this bit which is important :- "This calculation is based on the clubs net transfer position in each respective registration period covered by this agreement".
"each respective registration period" presumably means each window has it's own limits but based on "the clubs net transfer position in each period".
What that is god knows, there is so much of the sanctions that aren't actually revealed.
The only thing I'm fairly certain about is that the 2nd year will be wiped off once our financials are revealed.

I don't see how we could have bought Mangala and Di Maria with a 60m Euro budget and I think we did the right thing in prioritising a central defender.

I am a fan of Di Maria, but the fee puts him in the Suarez, Bale and Ronaldo bracket and he's too inconsistent to be regarded at that level, however from a fans point of view I'd have liked to have seen him at City. Hopefully we will be able to bring n a player of his calibre, or better, in 12 months time.

just frustrating that players like fabregas, sanchez, di maria, falcao all seem available this summer when we cant get at them!!!!!

True, true.

It makes the wasted transfer window after our 2012 league win even more galling. A lot of money was wasted on players we've either sold or intend to sell. I always knew we'd live to regret that window.

Disagree on four counts, one, we were offered Dear Maria and turned them down twice!!!! second, before this window opened everyone on here, almost, knew we needed a central defender, back up right back, another defensive midfield player and a back up keeper, furthermore we had identified those areas before December, hence the Fernando/Mangala bids last January. Third if there was a problem area it was in relation to the homegrown quota, especially surrounding Milners contract, hence being in for Barkley and fourth, I don't think we needed any of them and still don't. We have a perfectly balanced squad, of course we all want the latest shiny toy but a team wins the silverware not individuals, and I think personally we have gone about our business in the right way.

You need to take stock at every window and assess exactly what's needed, all the players above aren't a necessity and would've only been luxury buys.

We said all last season our priorities should be CDM, CD, GK and to hold down our prize assets to longer contracts and we've done all of that along with bringing in a couple of kids for the future. To think we've also met our targets within the constraints surrounding us has to be applauded.

I'm also happy to let all the above go and go all out for Reus next summer when he becomes available, a player that would fit our style and squad, it's a wet dream of mine but i can live in hope :-)

Great minds and all that ;-)
