Any Long Covid sufferers on here?

Not a long covid sufferer but fuck me something has changed since the pandemic, I was always fit and health and rarely picked up any bugs. The last few years have been terrible, constant chest infections and breathing issues. Even struggling to hold a conversation today as I cant get words out without having to catch my breath.

Seems to be so many people in a similar boat

Sounds like your immune system has been compromised.......?

Yes, I had similar. Still tend to struggle in winter more than I used to

One of the symptoms is exercise intolerance. I reckon I've had this post-vaccine symptom for about 30 years then.
Basically asthma. What feeds the conspiracies is that of course we all had the vaccines around the same time we got COVID. I think it's very likely there are some long term effects of COVID that we don't yet fully understand, but some people seem to have decided that it is the vaccine causing the long term damage.

Some people with little or no medical knowledge but amazing skills at believing stuff they read or see on YT

If you show them to be wrong with their conspiracy claim, they ignore you and just wait for the next claim to come along to post. They think that so many wrong claims must equal one big right claim.. The ones that post the conspiracy claims on here do that. It's telling of them as people...dishonest and unhelpful.

It wouldn't be unheard of for some people to have a bad reaction to a vaccine. Literally every drug you've ever used has a list of side effects and when I used to get the flu jab every year, I always remember having to sit down for 10 minutes in case I had any reaction. But the problem is that it's very difficult to actually talk about it because every discussion about vaccines is quickly derailed by some anti-vaxx dickhead with a PhD in doing their own research.

In reality as you say, any 'reaction' to the vaccine could just as easily be a reaction to getting covid.

Yeah, the classic scattergun approach. I still remember when the vaccine conspiracy was about a single vaccine causing a single health issue. Nowadays, it's about any vaccine and any possible health problem they can throw at it.

Was just going to say that mate - take a look at the leaflet that comes with any over the counter medicine even.. There will always be the one in a million that is harmed by any vaccine or medicine. Apply that to the many billions who got the vaccine(s), and yes, the vaccine will have killed or injured some people.
This does not mean the vaccine was bad /harmful.

For those that doubt long covid exists or who believe those that suffer are sick notes I can tell you, you are very, very wrong. It is real, life changing and serious. My son is into his third year. Previously an extreme sportsman and cycling nut. Now can't walk more than 200 yards.
This.
Nothing worse than struggling with health issues and having people doubt your credibility.

I know of a fair few athletes have had to give their love of running/sport or due to being affected.
I personally haven't ran since Xmas after being hammered by a few viruses going round over winter (and I had to stop running for year back in 2021 due to long covid).
May take a trip to the docs as it's not shifting.

I'm hoping this doesn't last a long but cardio is completely off the cards atm. Fortunately I can carry on doing long walks (and yoga etc) but running was a big part of my life (and well being).

I’m sorry to hear that mate. It’s an absolute bastard and no understanding or cure in sight.

My eldest son was reasonably fit when covid came and he was given the vaccine because his mother decided hearing 'everybody needed it' was important. My autistic son, also living under her roof with his affected brother, did not have it nor I having diabetes.

I said to her that my lad didn't need it at his age because of his strong immune system.

Since then, he and his mother had covid at least 5 times in a short period. He, unfortunately, picked up a tuberculosis variant from a kid in school that came from eastern Europe. My lad had to be blasted with chemo drugs after it was being caught lying dormant.

Also, since then, he has picked up CFS and is in and out of hospital a lot. The original docs pointed out out that the vaccine wasn't needed for him and had played its part in lowering my lad's immune system and erratic heart rate (seemingly recovered from now). No doctors, since then, have spoken on the vaccine connection.

This has all played a part in affecting his mock exams going from a very high prediction to him barely clinging on to passing. He's been given a pathway to a prodigious college, but doesn't know if he'll be able to complete what he needs through fatigue.

I know where you're coming from even if other dismissive clowns on here, don't.
