Anyone eaten in a 3 star michelin restaurant

I used to love going to these sorts of restaurants when I working down in Portsmouth. On a good year we'd be frequenting them seemingly every other month.

They all become a bit samey after a while and I got tyred of having to go through the usual formalities you must adhere to in these sorts of establishments.

If you are to go to any I'd recommend the Lamb Inn in Chichester. Wow the chef han cook a wonderful Steak Diane.
Great Continental break fast too

My car broke down in Northern France on the way to the Alps for a ski holiday. Had to stay overnight in a Campanile within an industrial zone and there was a restaurant attached to it much like a Beefeater is next to a Travelodge. Zero stars, I doubt not even close to half of one, but the meal I had that evening was just astonishing and I remember it 20yrs later. It's one of my Ratatouille moments, for those of you who've seen the film.

How different is it to paying more to see the best team on the planet play football, when you could go and watch FC United for a fiver instead?
City have not always been the best team on the planet so the fact that they play like they do now is a Bruce bonus.

I’ve never thought my season ticket wasn’t value for money even in the Stuart Pearce days.

Three, I think. Gordon Ramsey’s place in that London, Arpege(sp?) in Paris and a place in Tokyo I don’t recall the name of. They were all a good while ago and I wasn’t paying. Don’t recall specifics, but they were all good.

Course I’ve bought things made in a factory and that’s got nothing to do with thinking that fine dining is a load of overrated bollocks for those better off in society to be able to spend their money on.
I just enjoy going to good restaurants as does my missus.
People find their happiness in different ways, having a good scran and a nice bottle of red every now and then is hardly spitting in the face of those less fortunate.
Let folk do what the fuck they want and stop being a judgmental fucker. :-)

So it’s the sense of it not being worth your money that you object to?

That‘s absolutely fine. Everyone has limits as to what they will pay for what.

I wouldn’t want to eat at these places every night, but once in a while, they can be magnificent.

Fortunately the Insta goons prefer to go to Salt Bae than a truly superb restaurant.

Experience at L’enclume spoilt slightly by a knob head scouse sommelier who took offence when I told him something about a wine. I was just trying to engage but the insecure tool didn’t like it.

If in the lakes I’d sooner recommend the Old Stamp House in Ambleside. Better food, more cosy surroundings and less stuffy.

Sommeliers do a type of performance art. It’s informative, but I always find it quite amusing to see how much they can “big up” their wine.

The Essence of rhubarb, with raisin overtones and a burnt rubber finish compliment the raw scollop’s meatiness and the pomegranate jus.
