Apology to Klatenburg

I saw it a hundred times yesterday, I don't need to see it again. It was 50-50 whether he'd have got the ball or not but really the ref, seeing it only once, got the decision absolutely spot on and that's regardless of how early in the game it was or how much someone had paid to watch the game. Red card, get over it.

-- Mon Oct 25, 2010 5:52 pm --

Actually forgot about the Kompany yellow; that was the wrong decision.

Spot on Bill,if he had just given him a yellow do you think Arsenal would have complained no,just like we didnt when by the letter of the law the Newcastle player should have been sent off on the penalty decision we had.In my opinion he took a long time to produce the red because it was crossing his mind what happened last season against the Arse where he said later he would have sent Ade off for the stamp if he had seen it.7/10 refs would have booked him and a better game would have resulted.

The punishment for DAGSO is a sending off and a one game ban regardless of whether it was a deliberate foul or an honest attempt to get the ball. Yesterday's incident occurred in the first 5 minutes so City were forced to play for most of the game with 10 men spoiling it has a spectacle and Boyata gets a one game ban.

My idea would be to replace the red card and ban with a penalty goal. Now you might say what if the ref gets it wrong? Using yesterday's incident as an example City would have been 1-0 down but still have eleven on the pitch with a chance to put it right surely this is better and fairer than what actually happened?

....as has been said many times - (bearing in mind only seen the MOTD version of the highlights and was wrestling with making the kids' crunchy bacon wraps in the family stand for much of the game!), that was a red card.

I was convinced fabregas should have had a yellow for goading the ref to send boyata off, his first yellow may then have been a red.

I was flummoxed when Fabregas was merely told to "calm down, last chance" at a further foul that could easily have been a second yellow and off (when the other guy got booked.

I was convinced Song should have been booked for his first foul, which was very similar to a yellow we got two mins before for a very similar offence in a first half where he was dishing out cards for fun. His actual yellow would therefore have been his second so off... (in fact I was so convinced he HAD been booked the first time I was fairly doing a red card dance at his second foul). He was very influential in the game.

Can't believe a ref can book SO MANY players in the first half (to prove what a big man he is?) yet none in the second, which seemed no less full of incident.

Anyway - no apology to Battenburg for me... clearly he can't have his cake and eat it.

You forgot Denilson, whose two footed lunge at Tevez three minutes after the Boyata sending off was a clear red card offence, only given a yellow. And then, later in the half, he delinberately handballed, which by the letter of the law is also a yellow - which of course would have been his second.

So, Fabregas should (by the letter of the law) have had two yellows, Song (if like fouls are treated in a like manner) should have had two yellows, Denilson should have had a straight red, but as he got a yellow, should by the letter of the law have had a second yellow.

No complaints about the Boyata red card, I think it was arguable Chamakh would have got the ball but Clattenberg obviously didn't. But if you are going to referee by the letter of the law, do it consistently. Clattenberg didn't.

I don't like anti-City conspiracy theories, they are usually bullshit IMO. But when you put this alongside all the other Clattenberg decisions which have gone against us (especially after the Bolton game) you start to wonder whether he has something serious against us.

Ref got most things right yesterday. Red card was the correct decision, only City fans would dispute this. You ask 100 other people who are not City fans, 95 of them would say it's a red.

I'm in 116 and the amount of crap people were singing, shouting about the ref being biased was frankly embarrassing. Seems the norm now whenever we don't win.

What's embarrassing about it? I want the refs to be intimidated when they come to Coms. Every decision against us to should be heckled and booed regardless of whether it's right or wrong. Supporters have a very limited amount of scope in influencing games but we can put pressure on the referee.

clattenburgs a c*nt. Remember he red carded Bellamy last season for "diving" when he was actually fouled? fk him!

yesterdays red card was correct going by the letter of the law,but commonsense could have prevailed on clattenburgs part, barely 5 mins gone and i've never seen a red card produced so quick from a refs pocket,a severe talking to a yellowcard and letting him know another challenge and off could have been done. as for clattenburg and the fa i find it strange after the problems of last years game that clattenburg was selected for this one,and it just seems to stink of something not right imo....

At the game yesterday I was well pissed off with the ref. I didn't berate like many about me did but I thought he had a shocker and criticised him.

Having seen the game on sky this morning I admit I was wrong.

He had an excellent game and got every call correct. We must not blame the referee everytime we lose.

Klatenburg got the sending off,the penalty, the bookings correct.

We needto grow up and admit the truth.

For the record I dont blame Boyata, he was put in an impossible position, took a gamble and lost.

Lets move on.

wtf?

yes everyone on here agreed the penalty and red card was right.

BUT were talking about the rest of the game, it was so one sided it was unbelievable, bent bastard.

how did arsenal end the game with 11 men? joke.
