A Blackburn fan told me recently that he was disappointed with how arrogant we had become, that he felt we used to be more down to earth and that in recent years he had noticed a change in attitude when we have visited ewood park. From my point of view, I really hadn't noticed that much of a change. I said that perhaps us being confident in our ability was being confused with arrogance.

98/99 we thrashed Notts County 7-1 in the League Cup. Played them in the league 10 days later and managed a 1-1 draw. We dont want arrogance from our players as they can slip up, so none from us either i hope. Was at a football training session with my nine year old this morning, on the Isle of Wight. A little lad ( about 7 ) was with his dad watching his brother playing, he was a Grimsby fan, and proud of it. Would have been dissapointed if my son in his City shirt said anything to mock his choice of team, considering who he could have supported. Saying that im fully enjoying our time at the top, and the rags, Arse, dippers and Chelski are fair game as far as im concerned. ;)

I remember being at that game. When we went 4-1 up (or was it 4-0?) I said to the old bloke next to me "Even City can't lose this one". He said "How long have you been coming here son? ...and you come out with shit like that!"

We're not getting arrogant. What we are getting is obsessed about comparing ourselves to rag supporters, and questioning the attitude of blues who are quite rightly enjoying the current performances of the team.

I'd bet well over half of all blues at 3-1 were more than a bit worried about dropping points last Sunday. We've been through too much to be arrogant.

What I think most of it comes from all the stuff seen as arrogent like the "We'll score when we want" chant,
but how many times were we told that we're in the shadows of them lot? how many times were we refered to as the underdogs? how many times were we so close yet so far? How many times did we hear people say "we feel so sorry for you having to watch United lift the league season upon season"?

Now we're in a position where all that shit ends, it's like a kid being treated like a baby till he turns 21 well now we're 21 and it's time to paint the fuckin streets of Manchester Blue.....

are we in danger of becoming like the shitheads over the road, loads of talk of we gona walk it, win every game, win treble,quad etc etc
as a city fan for over 30yrs you get used to city failing, we were in the wilderness for a long long time, being a city fan in those days came with the customary grey hairs and stress lines. and disappointment.

i really hope our fans dont turn out like the arrogant bastards down the road. maybe i still have the bad days firmly stained in my memories, but is strange when you see you beloved club go through such a huge change and start becoming championship contenders again.
