Are You Officially Priced Out Yet, Or Almost?

You mean those sponsorship deals that all the other top clubs have that don't subsidise their clubs ticket prices?

These ticket prices aren't the fault of MCFC, its the fault of football in general. Our season ticket prices aren't much different to the rest of the PL, at least we don't pay to watch shite every week. That doesn't make it acceptable but were in the same boat as fans all over the country so rather than having a go at MCFC, have a go at Sky, the PL, the FA etc instead
Yes them ones, I'm not just blaming City but why do they have to follow the trend?
It's just greed, which has been proved many times on here (I can't be arsed digging out the posts) that ticket income is small beer in the grand scheme of things, If I was an opposition fan coming to the City this season I would give it a major swerve

I agree it is small beans when commercial deals dwarf the money generated from ticket sales, but what some people are asking for is for MCFC to set a president and lower ticket prices compared to the rest of the league.

Like I said its not the fault of MCFC its football in general, if we keep selling out every week how can the owners know who is coming through the gates whether it be Dave Smith a local working class lad who has a low income or some 'tourist' who can comfortably afford the price?

Until attendances drop the club will do NOTHING about the ticket prices, supply and demand, if the demand is there why lower the price??

Dave Smith will have an account with the club listing all the games he has attended and probably have friends and family with supporter numbers connected to his account, if the club prices out fictional Dave and his like it's at a detriment to the club

Lose the fans you lose the soul of the club and at the minute we're on thin ice. Some of the absolute cretins my sister has had sat next to her in the last couple of seasons especially at Champions League games, all of them to a man/woman has cheered when the opposition has scored and all of them were too busy taking pictures and videoing Ronaldo and the like that they didn't see any of the game

Totally agree with you about the muppets at CL games all sat their with their Ipads out. But i guess the difference there is that the CL is a competition that is watched throughout Europe and i suppose if I was in Barcelona and had the opportunity to buy a ticket for a Barcelona CL game while I was there then id probably do it, which is kind of what these tourists are doing, their not MCFC their probably not even football fans their just taking in a match while their on a trip.

I went to NYC last December, me and the Mrs went to watch the Knicks and bought one of those daft foam fingers and a Knicks jersey. I have NEVER watched a game of Basketball in my life and hated it at school but i fancied taking a game in as part of a trip. I fuckin loved it, these tourists are no different to me.

In my opinion what the club want is rid of the likes of me who spends no money at the club except for my season ticket maybe once or twice a season I'll buy a hot chocolate if I'm cold, and replace me with the type who will go to one or two games as a spectacle buy high priced tickets spend a wad of cash in the club shop spend a load of money at half time on pies, hot dogs and drinks, rinse and repeat week in week out

You only have to go back 20 years and the same was being said by the Rags, most who now sit in the pub on matchdays "clappin" at the bloody telly.
They abandoned their club. Only to be replaced by herds of travelling pot-hunters. I now only go out three times a week instead of seven so I am able to afford watching City. We all have choices. I think you have already made yours???

It'll give them an idea though. They will get some kind of idea about you background by the money spent on tickets/merchandise.

When people who used to attend regularly stop going then it's likely due to being priced out.

It's not just working class fans that struggle to pay the prices these days though.

No it won't give them any idea. A 'tourist' as some people have been describing them, is likely to be over in Manchester for a trip and want to see a game while their here, the chances are that at best they will make this trip once a season, AT BEST, some may never even return and most of them will probably buy their tickets off Viagogo anyway.

Plenty of people are making out as if all of a sudden that groups of middle/upper class people from the Cheshire countryside have decided to start following City all of a sudden.

United have their share of tourists, but they also have a fanbase all over the UK, and that fanbase is huge. Personally I don't think we will ever match their fanbase on a national basis, so anyway saying they will be replaced by someone with money coming out of their ears are way off the mark, the chances are they will be replaced with someone who is similar to themselves, on an average wage, but perhaps has a slightly different level of disposable income. Who knows but its getting boring reading about us being replaced by tourists.

It will give them an idea of their background in relation to City. the club will know if the customer entering the ground has been buying tickets for a long time or if theyre first timers.

Also, in regard to the middle/upper class people taking over, who do you suppose will be snapping up the £1200 season tickets on level 2 in future? not going to be working class people is it?

you are probably right to say that we will never get to the same level of support that united have though and that is one reason the club needs to look at the prices seriously. if they keep going up i wont be able to afford to take my son to the games in future, im sure a lot of people will be in the same boat too.

United struck gold when the PL was first formed and as soon as Sky came in to play and games were being screened across the world, United were stood there with all the shiny silverware. Unfortunately that ship has sailed now and we will always be playing second fiddle as a fanbase in terms of numbers.

I'm not sure, there are plenty of people that are working class that have gone on to make a fair amount of money, does that change their class? I imagine there are loads still sitting in CBL2 that are happy to pay the £1200 because they can afford it regardless of income, and like you said if the day comes when they are priced out then they will be in the same boat as a lot of other people.

The top and bottom of it, on which hopefully we can agree, is that if we keep selling out then the club won't see any reason to reduce/freeze prices, they will keep trying to milk out every penny they can. I'm not sure if the question 'how much disposable income do you have?' has popped up on any of the hundreds of surverys they've sent out in the last few years, my guess is that if they did ask that question they would get a big shock. But until that comes up(which it won't), or people stop paying to go and watch City i don't think the club have any reason to look at the pricing structure.

Totally agree that nothing is going to happen as long as the club thinks everything is OK. This won't change unless the fans do something as one. Would probably take all football fans to do something together though, along the lines of the FSF demonstration but on a bigger scale.

unless terraces come back and prices come down I will turn my back on football. fuck it. sitting down on a plastic seat for the last howevever many years.....get to fuck. its not football. not as I knew it.[/quote]

this - but we all know that even safe standing aint coming back to football (can't see the corporates wanting that) because that would mean real footy fans going and creating a real atmosphere not fat middle-aged high income earners who just sit and complain if someone stands up for more than a few seconds - nothing against them of course but why should it just be them who can afford to go.

this is why the best atmosphere and excitement is generated at poor Eastern European teams grounds - cause they're skint but still able to go to the footy on a Saturday and sing with true passion - well, that's my theory

It cant come back because its never even been introduced to english football! Its a lot different to old style terraces.

Celtic have tried to push it through but the council rejected it for some reason.

United were also looking into it last season. All it takes is for one club to introduce it and others will follow. Surprised if city weren't looking into it, the whole bottom tier of the south stand already stand, you as well make it safe and also increase capacity by making it into a proper standing section.

To give the club the benefit of the doubt. The city voice questionnaire has given us the chance to express our concerns I bet no other club has.
In addition I had a reply today

"Thanks for all of your contributions so far. There is split opinion about how well the club is doing on season ticket prices, but much clearer are you concerns about the costs of individual match tickets and eating/drinking at the stadium.

We have 2 more questions for you all to consider.

1. How much do you typically spend in total when you're coming to a home game at the Etihad? Please include anything you might spend on travel, eating & drinking, merchandise, regardless of whether you buy here or somewhere else.

2. What do you think needs to happen before the cost of football starts to come down? Why hasn't it happened already?"

So they have at least acknowledged there is a problem. Whether they act remains to be seen but at least there is some dialogue.

Adult match day ticket prices going through the roof is one thing, but more concerning is the increase in the 18-21 age group.
I suspect the vast majority of these tickets are being bought alongside an adult one, given the small percentage of of young adults who could actually afford these prices.
One adult plus one 18-21 ticket for the Liverpool match 'starts' at £101.
