I wasn’t enthusiastic about heading to Wembley, so instead I’d arranged to take my dad’s ashes up from Ponceshire to the Etihad to spread them in the memorial garden (club quite organised on this so tip of the hat).

I met up with a childhood friend of my dad who hadn’t been able to make the funeral. We had a nice catch-up about old times and games when City were shit. Just before we said goodbye I suggested that we’d fuck it up today as some weird old-skool tribute to my dad. He just smiled and nodded.
