Arsenal FA Cup SF Post-Match Thread

Usual media bullshit reaction following our semi. If we win it’s to be expected, money spent, embarrassment of riches etc plus the FA Cup is small beer anyway..when we lose the other team are brilliant and we’re shit, total rebuild needed, oldest cup competition in the world “it means more” etc TBH I couldn’t really give a shit, winning in an empty stadium is just hollow. OK if we could win the CL which I think we still have a good chance as most of the teams in the competition won’t park the bus, then yes I would be happy BUT again in an empty stadium it’s all a bit naff.

We need a CF that gives us a different option, like Edin.
Not suggesting that we play route one but we have no physical presence up front.
We made David Luiz look world class yesterday.

Shite really. I’m only hopeful the more we lose we actually finally address the weaknesses in the squad and stop apologising for having money. No one likes us so it doesn’t matter! Just do it once and do it proper.

We need a new wide player who is fast and can score heavy goals.

We need Foden and DeBruyne near the opposition goal not way out wide or really deep.

We need a new DM that can run, tackle and distribute the ball.

We need two new CBs that can run, head it and are good on the ball. I’m not convinced with Garcia. He’s better than Stones and Otamendi, but that bar is low on current form, but he’s slow and short. The kind of player that could well evolve, which suggests he should be 4th or 5th choice but at this stage I’m really not sure.

We need a LB that can defend.

We need to sell the loan army and maybe a couple of the main squad and actually address this stuff.

Very disappointing day yesterday, it’s uncanny how many days we’ve had this season that we play ok or well, but we just have the look of a team that just isn’t going to score. Once the opposition score it just seems to make us tense up at the moment.

I know Pep is very loyal to his senior players and has a hierarchy in place but I would really like to see him break out of this a bit more.

There is NO point in us having the ability to make 5 substitutions from a selection of 9 players when, in my opinion, we only had TWO players that I would want to come on in the situation we were in yesterday - Foden and Bernardo. They were the only two attacking options we had. Why not have a Braff or a young striker (Delap) on the bench as cover for a ‘bad day at the office.’

Hopefully we dust ourselves off and manage to find a groove for the CL.

We have so much defensive cover but not many are the solution we need at the moment.

Nonsense. We didn't lose a game of football because Pep wore ripped bloody jeans.
Klopp looks like a scouser every match day with his tracksuit and baseball cap yet he won a title and Champions League...
I doubt Pep wearing a suit yesterday would of changed the result!

but then that comes down to poor judgement - KDB in that example wasnt better placed at all. Pep also says that int he alst third his players have freedom. Its only in the defensive third and middle third that he wants absolute ball retention. Part of it is mental with GJ but if you also look at his technique when striking a ball (shooting) it isnt always great - its a bit like Sterling who has improved but is still wayward
 
My wife said it was the most disappointing semi she has seen for a long time , I said we’ve been married for over two centuries , I’m almost 50 and just seen my team papped out of the FA cup...

am puzzled why pep has not singed somebody else upfront (striker) we are lacking somebody getting 30 goals if aguero gets his normal injury he picks up every season ? pep at barca had a dodgy defence but had goals in the team to get him out of jail ? this season city have score goals but leaked goals and many silly goals in games we should have won easy but we missed so many chances

spot on and that's why it hurts more ?

we are better than arsenal by a long way but the players did not turn up. pep dropped a bollock in gundogan on his own and covering the back 2, so when the wing backs pushed up the 2 centre backs normal spread out wide, also having KDB picking up the ball from the keeper and defending is a shocker we looked a patched up team

its when you know your a better team and have so many chances and the other team goes up field and scores and you lose ? you think how the fuck did we lose or why did we lose, this city team on its day can win every game they play ? but this city can also play and look like we are never going to score with the same players (this is manchester city)
