Arsenal (H) - Post Game Thread

Traditionally the false 9 helps break down a parked bus by dropping in between the defensive and midfield lines of the opposition. Even if those lines are only 5 years apart this means either a centreback has to follow them, taking a man out of the defensive line, or the defensive midfielder has to follow them, freeing up one of your attacking midfielders.

Our problem is much more to do with width. We’re making teams defend a 40m wide penalty box instead of the whole 65m width of the pitch.

That’s because we have no attacking fullbacks and our left winger wants to be a 10.

Maybe just trust in Pep instead of picking holes out of a setup that won many things including the treble last season.
Also maybe it is just about the number of games we have played and it's catching up on us, Pep does not like a big squad and a strong 17 players plus youth and a couple of bench players, So let's see how far we can go in the rest of the season and if we come up short in the league Pep will know best for a new build and City going forward

I'm in the tiny minority that thought we played really well. You have to credit Arsenal's defence. There's a reason that they've conceded far fewer xG than anyone in the league. They're an excellent team, and we gave them next to nothing from an attacking POV.

Foden wasn't great, but taking him off when three points are more or less required was just silly. He gave up a bad corner, but otherwise, he wasn't losing the ball, was still working hard, and seemed to be growing into the game.

It will take some luck to win the league now, but I like our chances of winning the FA Cup and Champions League.

Shoutout to Gvardiol and Lewis.
I agree we bossed the game but didn’t create any real chances.. Haaland and Doku stood out for being woeful in front of goal.. Gvardiol was a standout for me for other reasons.. I thought he was excellent

Hate the fact that we’ve given a major physiological advantage to the Dippers

We still haven’t beaten a top five side and have two more cracks at it, with Villa coming midweek. Feels at times as if some of the team are built for our patient, possession game, whereas others are built for a more open game where possession is turned over but where chances come at both ends. Even without the injuries, I’m not sure we have enough to play effectively either way (all-out possession v all-out open) against better teams, so we seem to be a bit of a hybrid side.

From the 6 games we have played against the other teams in the top 5, we have got 4 points.

That is where the title will be lost.

Apart from Liverpool who we are equal with we are down 3 points with Arsenal, and currently 3 down with Villa.

To turn things around we have to beat Villa on Wednesday and Spurs when we go to WHL.
I agree with a lot of what you say but Palace and Spurs at home definitely and possibly Chelsea away feel the most costly as the opposition were poor

You fuckers will not win fuck all with a mentality of throwing yourself to the ground, time wasting from everyone on your team. ,constantly pulling of shirts then crying wolf. I woukd rather have Liverpool win it than you cnuts. . Also we have more history yhan you stop your tarquins embarrassing themselves with silly chants. , Also you won't. You cannot do 2 games aweek you soft arse wankers
Surely you would rather have anyone win it above the unbearable dipper cunts?
