Arsenal post match thread

Pellegrini is a competent manager and calls to have him sacked when it seems Pep is coming in summer is just complete knee jerkery of the highest order imaginable.
We lost to Arsenal, not a pub team and it is accepted Pellegrini has not helped the defense but getting rid now? Chelsea sacked Mourinho and look where they are as a club.
Someone had a thread locked earlier for having a bit of a bash at those who hold

I only caught the first half and being clinical does not equate to men v boys, again sensationalism, come on man grow a pair.
I saw us dominate possession for a decent chunk of that first half and threaten their goal more. When you say "men v boys" that is understood to mean totally dominated in every department and that is not the case at all.

I agree with your point that there is no opportunity for Pellers to be replaced before the end of the season. However, let's not kid ourselves even outside of this game that our performances and current form are not concerning. The two/three season wait for Pep is hurting us, and the time to have replaced Pellers was at the end of last season. The run of winning games at the end of last season papered over the cracks. As we had another season to wait for Pep Pellers was given another season. There's still a lot to play for and we need the players to step up for the manager, and for the manager to motivate the players into some performances. Personally think we are at a crossroads this season. We will turn around the league form and kick on in the cups, or it will all start to unravel. Hopefully we can have a successful season, but the comments that it will all turn around next week and then the next week, its starting to get concerning as to when it will change. In addition the wait until all the injuries clear up, I think the players we refer to are susceptible to further injuries this season. Disappointing result but let's see how we get on against Sunderland and more importantly at Leicester in a game we mustn't lose.

Nothing we have done this year has altered my thought at all on that score and we failed to bring in or develop a key defender or two with the work rate required to add real value to the first team.

We lost the two games against Juventus a side some say after the number of years we have had to develop this squad we should be beating in Europe now.

His record against sides that press us and know his lack of tactical nous is poor and as someone earlier posted we have conceded 2 or more goals in over 33 per cent of his matches in charge.

We lose games we should get points out of too often and last night was no exception.

A reasonable manager but never one to take us to where the owners want us to be.

Very disappointed in our premiership performances and results to date.

We have gone backwards this season despite the investment.

Its obvious despite the need to invest much further in new players that MP cannot get the players he has playing to their best nearly often enough.

Can't disagree with much of that.

Not sure we don't have good centre backs but they haven't got a chance at the moment.

Not beaten a side in the top 6 so far this season take away the last minute goal against Palace and it would be top 9.
Why are we so poor ? Would take a top 3 finish at this point.

Fair enough, I respect your opinion but we finished 8 points behind said champions and they've sacked their manager.

It's a results, not a stats game game but sometimes you have to go by your eyes and mine are tired. I honestly think a change some time ago (after the rags away) was the right thing.

I fully agree with you we are stale and am now convinced Pellegrini has no power to freshen us up mentally. He has hit his ceiling as a manager, which is not bad.

@come-on-barney well that is a bit premature to say it is hurting us, we may end up with 2 prem titles in that 3 year spell.
I think i get a flavour of what you are saying though that we could have hit greater heights. If you do then possibly yeah but the tiny bits of gain at the very top do not come easily.

If there were no decent info pointing Pep to us right now i would probably be furious, not at tonight as we did ok but in the general apathy we show all to often.
Not that i am content now but the blow is heavily softened.
If Pep goes to Utd i will personally deliver whatever message you want me to give to Txiki and Ferran before i give a decent impression of the hulk losing his shit:-D

Competent once upon a time...regardless, at present he isn't producing anything like an acceptable level of performance from the city players. Tactically he has been less than crap, whilst his laid back gentlemans approach to man management has to be called into question when clearly some passion, and even more importantly discipline, is needed right now.

Ok, you could argue he'll be gone come the summer...but sometimes things need sorting before more damage is done. This level of performance, along with consistently poor tactical choices(competent manager?) is becoming like a broken record that can only be fixed by changing the hardware.

None of these things are the staple of a competent manager. I don't know much about pellers history aside from the fact he failed at real, then did ok at malaga when they had loads of cash, and in a league where nobody is expected to touch the top two teams. So he had loads of money and a total lack of pressure.

As it stands i find claims of a "competent manager" very generous, remember brendan rodgers was a competent manager when he was at swansea.

Slept on it and still Fucken raging, fuck you Merry fucken Xmas.
Pellegrini can fuck off, absolutely useless, a manager who is truly holding us back, absolutely useless!

Compared to stoke and Liverpool games that was a million times better.

Undone by a great goal from Theo and a shocking error on the stroke of half time.

Probably should have had a draw.
