It's ok for everybody to keep saying it's a wonder strike, but he shouldn't get that room in there.
We don't. It's a ball played into the danger area no closing down and he has all the time to line it up.
We seem to spend a lot of time marking space and that doesn't hurt anyone.

Our organisation was fine until half time, but the classic mistake of leaving Yaya in a two left us all over the place and pretty easy to play against, but even then we should have got a point if the referee does his job.

Pretty much sums it up for me, although delph has to take some blame for the silly pass to mangala which puts him under pressure. we at least deserved a point imo.

I don't think we played that badly. Generally we were OK, shite in parts, very good in others. It all boils down to our inability to defend solidly for any length of time.
it is worrying how it all turns to shite without Vincent. Get him back for the remainder ( I know, I know) and we win the league.
 
Love Yaya but the space in front of the back 4 is a big reason for our struggles.....and add that to the fact that Mangala is STILL making errors......we just making life too easy for these teams....We have no leaders and no fight, no hunger......this is really poor. Yaya just cant play a full 90 minutes anymore and Arsenal attacking players were just going past him as if he wasnt there for most of this game....and then when Mangala has no protection in front of him and is put under pressure, thats when the mistakes happen........Everyone knows Arsenal are quick in midfield and becuase of this, I feel Pelle got it wrong again......Playing Delph out wide on the left was not the right move for this game...We need quicker players with lots of energy in the middle and no matter how much we love Yaya, he just cant offer that anymore......another poor display which is becoming the norm this season.....

Again disagree. A heat map will show his ave. position on the field in the first half. The manager's a busted flush but nothing wrong today.
 
As i have expected it, we once again have been utterly poor against a decent team.
Hart kept us in it by disallowing two sitters which would have killed the game and Yaya's late brilliance must not hide the fact that we are
so bland and uninspired against good oppositions.
Trashing relegation fodder teams while loosing to any top 4 contender might secure us the 40 points but hardly give us any decent chance at the title.

I watch every city game to begin with, and the first 30 minutes were the best city have played for many a game yes. Other than this it was piss poor througout. Yaya scored from literally a punt at a half chance...same could be said of walcott but the 2nd? no.

It was men against boys in that they knew exactly what they needed to do, got 2 gaols, then sat back and defended with relative ease. They went with a clear plan, implemented it and watched city do next to nothing for the rest of the game. 20 chances on goal and how many were really good chances? I would only agree you were unlucky had the DeBruyne chance been more clear cut before they scored their first, but it ended up only a half chance as they covered the angles well on the backfoot.

If you think that game was unlucky then good for you lad, but anyone who watched without the handycap of bias will tell you otherwise. I like city, but honestly that was poor overall. At least Pellegrini, or hopefully Ancelotti in a temporary role, can work with what they did the first 30 minutes.

Training clearly needs to be overhauled...But manuel may aswell be in a faulty towers remake for his next role.

Aha. Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but over 2 legs we should beat Everton (we really should) and who knows if we get to the final we may actually turn up for that match..
 
We are almost half way through and after a promising start to the season I have to say that it has been very disappointing so far. The team has largely under performed. Today was a missed opportunity because Arsenal was not that great but like the Chelsea game at Stamford Bridge last season (which ended 1-1) where the players psychologically accepted that it was OK to dominate a toothless, abysmal Chelsea side and not actually go in for the kill because, well, it is Chelsea so we are doing well by just dominating possession. Arsenal today were not nearly as poor as Chelsea in that game, not even close, but I still retain that they were not that good. But we were content to just pass the ball about with slow pace without any direct desire and objectivity in terms of actually looking for a goal. When we finally stumbled on a counter attacking chance on the break, De Bruyne just needed to pass to Silva and it is a completely different game. Arsenal went and scored and then got another one before half time and it was an uphill task from then.

The lack of urgency and real threat in many ways falls down to Pellegrini's theoretical team selection rationale of ''oh we are playing Arsenal,lets play three in the middle of the park'' and lets leave real direct pacy threat on the bench''. But it is also the fault of the players who are ever too content to just shift the ball about without any urgency. The players needs to start taking more responsibility!!, leadership!!, honesty!. it is high time the manager and some folks ditch the theoretical conjectures of football tactics and go back to what works for this particular team and as it was at the start of the season, what works the best for this team is Sterling on the left, Navas on the right and then you fill in the blank spaces after that. They offer defensive cover better that any proverbial three man midfield and they offer direct threat going forward. The team ticks when those two players are on the pitch. Not the best in terms of talent but the best for the team. Europe is one thing but in the premier league, start these two players and the team will work.

Defensively the players have not really stepped up. Otamendi is inconsistent and unconvincing, Mangala is oafish and clumsy on the ball after starting very well with Kompany- we need Kompany back asap. Sagna has great character and works hard but he is getting a wee bit old and certainly exhausted and the loss of Zabaleta (even though he is getting on a bit) has been underrated this season. Kolarov still has his issues. So my recommendation will be the likes of Navas and Sterling tracking back ,supporting the full backs and in many instances actually tucking in to the middles , as they did at the start of the season when we were flying, at least until players return from injury or the players recover form. Pellegrini also needs to coach the team defensively as well.(on a side note and perhaps a bit harsh but Delph needs to start making the right decisions with his passing, I noticed it a few times today where he made wrong choices; De Bruyne needs to clutch up in big games and moments as well, he has cost us a few time already but on the other hand has scored some important goals...so..well I just need more from him)

Still half way through, a lot of football still to be played. I believe there is certainly an answer or solution to our problems but I fear it might be lost in the mist of pressure, opinions and I dare say, incompetence.

sick of the excuses...firstly it was when silva wa back it would change...it hasn't

then when run is back it will change ------it hasn't

now Kompany - yes he makes up for some of the deficiencies in the managers system but he won't last 10 games doing that before he is injured again ----- and I'm starting to wonder if there is more to this "injury" of Kompany's than we are led to believe - i think him and MP have fallen out big time........

We seem to be tougher on ourselves on here than even the BBC, who have been pretty even-handed when compared to some of the scathing criticism in the match thread.
 
Losing away to Arsenal (and bossing the game for much part) is in no way a disaster, and in terms of our chances of winning te league, pretty irrelevant actually.

Get Kompany back and keep Aguero fit and we win the league, end of.

But carry on as we are and it's gone.
 
Deserved a point. Arsenal scored a worldy and from some terrible defensive play from Delph/Mangala. Particularly Mangala.

Pellegrini betrayed his own ideals tonight (not the first time this season away from home in a big game) and it bit him on the arse. Stick to what we know. Play your best attacking line up instead of fucking about with Delph/Dinho/Toure.
