Arsenal Thread 2013/14

I thought Arsenal put in a peak performance today, and unless they get Suarez up front I don't see them being much if at all better.

I think arsenal looked very sharp. If they manage to bring a couple of players in then they could be dangerous.

Made me laugh the stream I was watching it on today had gooners creaming themselves over beating us.

How times have changed. I did have a wry smile on my face.

Whichever side you are on,you'd be pretty stupid to judge the coming season on this or any other friendly.Friendlies are for fitness mainly and only mean anything to people with small time mentality.

Remember Arsenal haven't really improved there squad that just scraped 4th last season. TBH i hope that win makes Wenger think that the current squad can win the league :D because it will be great for Spurs and LFC.

LFC are nowhere near Arsenal or Spurs.
I think this season we will w a few. Coutinho and Sturridge will be are key. Lets hope Henry gets the cash out now! Eriksen and Toby Alderwield will be a start.

Liverpool should try and finish above Everton first before thinking about us. Watched ye against Celtic, safe to say I'm not worried.

We're being heavily linked with Gustavo atm which would make sense. Also expect a striker and defender before the window closes. Would rather have players in already but we have a settled team as it is that can get us through the opening weeks of the season.

Absolutely amazed that so many previously sensible posters are talking about the mickeys as being on the same level with Arsene's finest.

As City fans I am sure that you all just like me used to hope we passed the 25pts mark by Christmas, thus meaning we avoided being dragged into a relegation fight. This is the reality of where Liverpool were last Season and that was with Suarez firing on all cylinders.

Arsene though needs to stop kissing Brenda's arse with his "respect Liverpool's wishes" stance and get some decent players in and get them in fast. Gustavo mentioned above is a very good shout and Fellaini would have far more of an impact at The Emirates than he would at Old Trafford.

I think its possible he is waiting to see who the Real Madrid cast offs are going to be after they have bought Bale and after Ancelotti has had a good nosey at the squad. Pretty sure this is AVB's plan as well.

Why the HELL are they not buying anyone?! I mean seriously? Ok, so they've bid for Suarez, but even if that does come off there are many more areas of that squad which need addressing. Defensive midfielder for example. Right back. Keeper. They could have been adding to other areas whilst still keeping track of the Suarez situation. As it is the season starts in pretty much 48 hours, and Arsenal have added Yaya Sanogo, on a free! They are rapidly losing their grip on 4th place (and reality), they're standign still (or maybe even regressing) whereas Spurs are taking definite steps forward.

Will Arsenal manage to recover from their terrible start to the season?

I don't understand them. if they had a supposed 70m budget, why not just bid 55m for Suarez, or 40m for Higuain?

or 25M for Gustavo?

It's not spending for the sake of spending if you already have the money (like they claim to) and if you're feeling a need.

That's why peopel are wrong when they take shots at you lot. if you can afford it and you are fulfilling a need and you are getting an acceptable level of quality, then the price is irrelevant.

Gustavo has signed for Wolfsburg - 12.5mil.

What are Arsenal playing at?

I almost feel sorry for the fans that folk out 1k+ for a season ticket but its their own fault, they fall for this stuff every year!

Arsenal are still the favourites to finish in the top four over Spurs and Liverpool. We've got a better defence and midfield than both of those teams.

to me its a very close call, if they carry on with quality signings spurs will piss 3rd let alone fourth,

I posted earlier in this thread that your manager needs to remember that it's about winning trophies - especially if you're at one of the top four. He's not a fucking accountant!
