Arsenal Thread 2015/16

The youngsters i mentioned above who are on loan are very very promising, but they need experience and right now they are never going to get in the first team no matter how good they are as we have a lot more quality and depth now so its difficult, so there no choice really but to send them on loan. In the past we wouldn't have done this as we had weaker squads and there was good chance of them getting into the team.

A team like Le Arse have gone too long without one. The way their business plan runs I wouldn't be surprised if their plan is get out all the cups early and be fit to win the title.

I wouldn't agree with that, theres no way we are 'trying' to get out of the champions league or fa cup. But yes i do think they really weren't bothered about carling cup and probably did think along the lines that if we get knocked out then great, because we can't compete for 4 trophies. And theres nothing wrong with that thinking unless you have a crazy squad and can put out strong teams in all 4 comps.

We can

;)

sorry but the idea that its a competition nobody cares about is a joke - typical of a fa of a club that has just been dumped out of the League Cup. The rag fans used to call it a Mickey Mouse competition - simply because they had never won it. Once they won it then it became second only to the Jules Rimet trophy for a few weeks !!

Does that mean that when your league season fizzles out during the traditional New Year collapse then the PL will become a crap competition nobody cares about?

That's your opinion, and no i wouldn't go mad if we won the carling cup and suddenly think its a great competition. I felt no different before the game. And i am happy we got knocked out simply because the thought of losing first team players who could give us a chance of winning the title, in order to win the carling cup, seems senseless. Id rather go for the league 100% an not win it because there was a better team then us then not win it because we lost important players like walcott ox giroud ozil sanchez etc to injury in the carling cup.

Who are we supposed to pick then? Our first choice 11? Or close to our first 11? I think he picked team simply because he had to put 11 out and wanted to use as little 1st and 2nd choice players as possible. Per only played because he didn't play against everton.

He's probably already gonna get stick for ox and walcott getting injured playing in the most unimportant of the 4 competitions. Imagine we lose ozil who could be so instrumental to our title hopes, because he gets injured in a carling cup game against sheff wed?

Unimportant it may be. But, it is one that you can actually win.

Try and explain that to the travelling arsenal fans.

Of course always difficult, but i don't think any of them went there expecting to see a strong team, I'm sure they also knew our priority wasn't this competition.

Well first of all i didn't agree with starting giroud or ox, or having walcott come on - thats 2 of our 1st choice strikers as well as the only fit player we have to play on the right since ramsey got injured.

However, can hardly blame wenger for the injuries, he had to put 11 players out there and they could have got injured in any game even a england friendly.

As for the rest, i really don't understand your post. Take a look at the names we had playing today - if you knew about arsenal you'd know we'd have to have almost our entire 1st 2nd and maybe even 3rd 11 injured before ANY of those players would get called upon for any important league games. The reality is we don't have a lot of great youngsters available, the most promising ones are out on loan (gnarby, akpom, crowley, zelalem, another young striker at ipswich etc).

Gnabry (not Gnarby) can't even get a game at West Brom...

“Serge has come here to play games, but he just hasn’t been for me, at the moment, at that level to play the games,” Pulis said of Gnabry, who played nine Premier League games for Arsenal last season, scoring one goal.

“He’s come from academy football and not played much league football.

“Does academy football really prepare players for league football? And we’re talking about Premier League football here.

“As a manager you pick a team that’s going to win a game of football.

“You pick your best team, you don’t leave people out because you don’t like them, because of this, that and the other.”
