So are you saying you wouldnt celebrate a dramatic City winner because it was over what the 4th official put on his board ?

The 4th official board is a minimum time
And he played over a minute more... It's gone but (call me blinkered) the same rules absolutely do not apply to us... If we need a goal the whistle goes bang on the time, every time

In April and start of May they have a run of fixtures that include Liverpool and Newcastle away, and Chelsea at home. Also
amongst that is us at ours.

By the time they play Newcastle at the start of May, the overtake will be complete. Fully convinced of it.
You may be right and it’s the way I look at it. Than again we really need to raise our game to overtake them. And keep the vermin away. We ARE the best team but we drop points unnecessarily.

To be honest if the ref wanted to, he could have given at least 1 penalty to arsenal before that added time was even a thing.

By all accounts Bournemouth were time wasting far too much.

Fuck em anyway. They’re finishing 2nd and that’s that.

Time wasting is getting out of hand. We pay good money to watch 90 minutes of football.

The world cup got it right with added time.

Than I thought I read somewhere that the pl wont be following the world cup added time due to commercial pressure ie advertising.

So this sent a clear message that teams can time waste as much as they can get away with know the adverts are more important than the paying fans.

But it's down to the refs to take action and book players early like eddy was lol. But not to just book eddy book everyone !

If that’s true then the game has well and truly gone! If it hasn’t already. I think a few on here are embarrassing themselves and the rest of us by their rage at Arsenal yesterday. Yes they are annoying and behave like twats appealing for absolutely everything, but taking the piss for them celebrating is a bit raggish imho. All modern day football fans seem to enjoy is revelling in other peoples misery. Not a nice ‘quality’ to have. And makes them sound like a ****. As long as we keep winning we’ll win the league easily.

I believe that all football matches should have a defined time for the ball in play, say 60 minutes. The clock stops for out of play, injuries, substitutions and free kicks. This season time wasting has become an epidemic. Bournemouth yesterday like Everton before took ages over goal kicks, feigning head injuries especially when we were on the attack and taking ages over substitutions. Frankly, the ref yesterday could have easily added more than 6 minutes and even at the start of injury time another of their players went down ‘injured’, so the ref was right to add that time to the 6 minutes. I thought the time added on in the World Cup was refreshing and if it helps to stamp out time wasting, all the better.

I don’t mind them adding all of that time for the wasting done. My problem is the inconsistency in applying it.

In the same breath, do we get that added time for time wasting? Would a lower-end team losing 1-0 against United or Liverpool, for example?

Time wasting has almost become a personal choice for referees to enforce - whether it’s booking City players in the 30th minute, or letting Prickford get away with it for a full 90 minutes. It’s madness how a flagship league is refereed to such a wank standard.

Why 60 minutes ? As paying customers and rules of football the match is 90 minutes long.
At 60 minutes fans are still done out of 30 minutes football !

Remind me…did you not win 4 titles in 5 years? I’m not sure why you think you’re hard done by…
We're entitled these days you know...
If we win it, then it'll be because your lot have slipped up as I don't see City doing the same.
That said, both teams could have slip ups and the rags nip in and steal it, and THAT would nevet do...

I agree with that hence why I suggested in my post a few minutes ago that there should be a fixed time for when the ball is in play so avoiding the arbitrary nature of the amount of time currently added on.

We’re not favourites with most bookies, tbf.
What worries me is that they have an easier looking run of fixtures than us before it flips and they have the harder looking games. I think we need to at least match them points wise until the game at ours. If we then go on and win that then we’ll be within a couple of points of them.

Well I’m saying that but I’ve no idea if the rearranged West Ham game will be played before our game against Arsenal. And we’ll have another rearranged game at Brighton if we get to the FA Cup semi so that might not be the case after all.

So you expect the wheels to fall off even with the help you are getting... I'll believe you

No, I have no expectation. Obviously, I’m hoping we can win the title but know also it will be difficult up against a team with City’s pedigree. I’m just taking each game at a time. Fulham away up next is a tricky tie. One loss could change things quite quickly.

One thing I agree on... They should play to a timed hooter like I'm sure they do in one code of rugby

Then there's zero point time wasting AND it can't be manipulated
