... as an Arsenal fan...

Finally, the final step to winning trophies. It was clear last season when we returned to the CL that there was some naivety there - we have some catching up to do in Europe. From a domestic perspective...

Are you telling us that Arteta's just developing a European style?

Dress it up however you need :)

Don't you think that all the sailing close to the margins of acceptable shows itself as more a "desperation"-thing, than a "genuine commendable football tactics"-thing? Or is it ground breaking stuff and everybody will be copying you in years to come?

If you can answer that, honestly, then you might be closer to understanding some of the reason's why you're "universally despised" because I doubt it has much to do with how much of a bastard your team are to play on the pitch.

its the shithouse way they play football that has made them disliked, the constant time wasting, the feigning injuries for impromptu team talks, the throwing themselves to the floor at every single opportunity, the dirty little tricks at corners, the fans and their aftv bullshit and last but not least captain black and his touchline antics and constant bitching and moaning in interviews and press conferences.
When we played them, I could only watch about 60 minutes in total. In those 60 minutes, I counted two coming togethers between one of ours and theirs, and how they made a meal out of it.
What got me the most was that they would clutch their heads after the coming together to clinch the foul in their favor, when in truth nothing came close to their noggin when watching the replays. If they commit the foul, they grab their heads almost instinctively and pretend they are the victims.
Pathetic.

I think the clear thing with Arsenal is the manager
He is pathetic
The handshake at the end said it all. He couldn’t even say congratulations, or infact say anything at all
He sets the tone and the tone is snide, shithouse, time wasting, victim mentality. Entitlement……
I can’t believe he managed to work with pep for so long and not take any of the most important elements.
Leadership always sets the tone.

I remember after our draw with them earlier this season, when legohead was questioned about the shithousery on their part, and he basically said something along the lines of that he learned that while at city. That he knows what we do.

Based on empirical evidence, one would conclude that he is a liar as I've never seen us do anything remotely resembling what they do. I've always felt we play football honestly, much to our detriment. The only pisstaking our players did was when Aguero would jog to the touchline when substituted taking off his pads in the process, which i loved and found to be hilarious. But even then, that never lasted as long as a Raya goal kick.

However, upon further reflection, I've come to the conclusion that maybe he is telling the truth. But maybe HE was the one coaching the dark arts to our team. Glad they didn't take it on board. I still remember him not letting Kevin take a throw in by playing keep ball with him, and Kevin gave it back to him telling him I know what you're doing.

Again, just a pathetic person. The way he met their board in the middle of the night after our game with them, just told you all you needed to know about him. He should have told them to contact his employer first.
You know what. I've changed my mind. He's not pathetic, he's more of a scumbag.

Didnt Pep state recently that we as a team are "too nice" when asked about their shithousing

Fair play to Agbonlahor there. He's had a dig or three at us in the past, but he's absolutely nailed it there. If they win nowt come the end of the season (and they've only realistically got the CL to go for now, they're not going to reel TMM in for the PL), and I can't see them winning the CL, then they're going to look bloody stupid.
They're obsessed with us, just like the voyeur was obsessed with Chelsea before.
Wenger if any of you have forgotten who that is.

Thanks for the response. So are you still pro-Arteta despite his over the top intensity and gamesmanship? I think if Pep and Arteta swapped places then Pep would have won the league with Arsenal's squad last season and would not be so far off the dippers this year but the squad is some way off the best teams that Pep and Klopp when they were competing and driving each other to new heights.

Arsenal fans have always made Arsenal hard to like for neutrals. Some of the football played by Wenger's teams was thrilling but the arrogance of things like the Henry/Pires penalty routine against City and the "I didn't see it" reaction to every controversy took away from that.

The collective laughter of neutrals at Arsenal's failure against Newcastle shows how the wider football world views the tactics and mentality Arteta has implemented. I think a big call is needed like City did when they fired Mancini if Arsenal are to take the next step.
I'm pro Arteta because of where he's taken us but now's the time to be a big boy and win a trophy. The fact Slot has come in and done what he's done won't have gone unnoticed.

Re Pep winning the league with Arsenal if he was the manager - of course! He's the best manager around but he's not available to be Arsenal coach so we've got Arteta.

I understand what you're saying but previously we were Mary Poppins. Nice to look at, pretty football but ultimately easy to bully. We took some absolute pastings from City and Liverpool and have had to add steel and aggression to stop that. Maybe it's gone to far the other way now and we may adapt in future but we're not going to the Etihad/Klanfield and getting spanked for 5 or 6 any time soon.

We all know how difficult it is but.....

League title nine points clear, pretty good chance.

Caribo cup against Newcastle, odds on to win

Plymouth away FA CUP, pretty certain to be in the fifth round, then three games from winning the cup, which team(s) do you think they fear?

CL, obvious;y the most difficult but they have as a good a chance as anyone else.

To say an "outside chance" is a bit os a stretch as far as I am concerned.
There has been multiple years where a team has been far closer to it than this Liverpool side are currently at. infact, most years at this stage one team has it still on yet it's never been done. The odds will quite literally tell you it's an outside bet at this stage.

33/1 i think i heard on the radio this morning.
And you wouldn't agree they're lengthy odds for football? I think we're about 10/1 to win the champions league, there's not many blues that would predict a champions league win right now after the season we've had so far yet the odds say we're over 3 times more likely than Liverpool doing the quad.

It's not steel and aggression!

It's falling over in areas where a free-kick would be advantageous, barging defenders at corners, and taking tactical timeouts so that your "man(?)"ager can do some illegal in-match coaching.

SNIDE FC, and you won't even admit it.

I think one or two people will remember that statement.

There's a reason why only two teams have won the treble that includes a champion league win. Let alone a Quadruple. Not in my lifetime
