Arsenal will be there or abouts this season.

Luck with injuries + achieving a good team balance/chemistry is our best hope of closing the gap.

Other way would be spending City/Chelsea levels of money but we cant.

Lacking a leader. I dont think so give the armband to Vermalen and he is the man that will lead that team.

What do you base that on? Vermaelen is no more a leader than Barry. i.e. he is not a leader.

A leader is someone like Kompany, Tony Adams, Roy Keane etc.. Not a decent centre-half who scores the odd goal. How many times did Vermalen play for Arsenal last year where they collapsed after taking the lead or looking comfortable. They do not have a single player who can run the team on the pitch.

or at least your board of directors chooses not to

If 'there or thereabouts' equates to 4th place at best, I agree.
They won't finish above us or United.
Doubtful that they'll finish above Chelsea, given how they have strengthened - even if RVP stays. If he doesn't stay at the Arse, I think they'll do well to finish in the top 6.
However it pans out, I'm sure they'll trail in a long way behind us, no matter who RVP finishes up with.
