Aston Villa (H) Post-Match Thread

Wet and cold on the bike and glad to be back home in the warm. Raheem well played. Gundo was great - he's making that role his own. Really liking Cancello as well. Great to see Phil and Ang on. Foden is such an accomplished player. John Stones - hmmmm.
Overall a hard fought-for win. When they step up a gear, they normally do it.

Really?

You can't see how the VAR decision went in our favour?

It's really simple. If Silva touched the ball, Sterling is offside and the goal is ruled out. If he didnt touch the ball, the goal is OK.

Silva celebrated the goal and told the referee afterwards he touched it. The goals panel are still debating it 1 hour later because they think he did.

We got a VAR decision in our favour because there wasn't enough evidence to prove Silva touched it even though he says he did.
Well the PL have just pissed on your bonfire as the goal has been awarded to Silva !!

we have to get back to the feeling of just bagging the 3 points and stop expecting magic every game we play, this season has been the norm and results will very every week

playing mid-week is hard enough but having so many injuries and asking players who are not really match fit to play twice a week is a big ask, we all knew the setup by villa close up shop and hold out for as long as possible get to half time and go again, but city did them early in the 2nd half half and good old fashion long ball kick from ederson flick on by jesus sterling runs onto the ball scores BFS eat your heart out even the great coaches can play long ball hahaha

the officials again shocking ?? i think the ref today was under remote control by VAR or somebody sat in the stand, clueless and let grealish off a red card and mouthed his way all game to the ref ?? then the ref sent Fernandinho for 2 soft yellows, clearly the officials are hell bent on giving liverpool the title ?? and you think what on earth are you doing then it hits you cheating is the only way you can beat this club and stop us winning the title

Not sure whether 3-0 flattered us or was a bit harsh on Villa who kept us at arm's length for much of the game - and they did so quite comfortably too. However, had Merlin and Jesus not missed golden chances then the game would have been put to bed much earlier. Not sure what Fern was thinking when already on a yellow - as if we needed any more players unavailable for selection. We just didn't seemed to click first half - KDB, Merlin and Bernardo all below par and Jesus saw precious little of the ball. Second half was better overall though still nowhere near our best. Gundog - effective in possession and lovely goal but not aggressive enough or strong enough for the DM role. Thought Douglas Luiz and Grealish looked good for them. Ederson and Sterling our best players, Cancelo good going forward and Foden and Angelino impressive when they came on. On today's evidence, Stones needs lots more games to get back to where he needs to be. Crowd atmosphere again non-existent at home - hard to understand how 54k fans can make so little noise. Anyway, it was a decent test and a good win against a well-organised team.
