Aston Villa (H) - Post-Match Thread

Akanji really is the £16m defender he is.

Doesn't get touch tight, Pep screaming at him repeatedly to do so.

Can't win shit in the air and positionally weak.

The drop off is huge which is a shame, because he looked composed on the ball when he first arrived.

Walker has defo peaked and, dare I say it, losing a bit of pace.

De Bruyne continues to frustrate and be careless, while Mahrez played for himself.

Decent first half from Bernie, Gundo and Rodders, and job done by then.

A second half to forget, such was the boredom.
Agrre with that apart from Kev, while not peak KDB, he looked a lot more threatening going forward today.

Just my opinion. We all have one.

I wouldn't start Mahrez at Arsenal.

Bernie to come into the middle with Rodri and Gundo.

Foden wide right for Mahrez. Walker, Dias, Laporte and Ake in a traditional four.
After a brief renaissance of three or four games, Mahrez has been utterly rancid in recent matches and back to his awful form since about this time last year.
Would rather play Phil there on Wednesday. Also not in great form but at least he works and will support his full back

Given the rubbish form we've been in,and the tricky circumstances around today, I thought we were great, best we've played since the home Derby. Fuck em. Up the Blues. Ps akanji is shite!
Nice one bluescholar...at last a positive post about today's performance. Reading some of the posts on here tonight I think I was at a different game today. We've won 3-1 after a particularly disagreeable week so it's good to see someone posting something positive for a change. Thank you.

The drop off from Dias to Akanji was certainly noticeable. For me with the Dias/Laporte platform (and stones fits this) we are a miles better team and move it between the lines son much better. Disagree about KDB though. I thought he was pumped up and at his best.
KDB was great. I can’t understand how some couldn’t see that today.

If it weren’t for Ederson, Villa were right back in that, he made some vital contributions at 3-1 to stop it being 3-2 and anything could have happened after that.
Wonder how the weirdo Ederson haters on here, weak minded gimps who are easily influenced by even weaker plastic overseas minds on ‘football twitter’, reacted to that top class save from Couthinho?
Probably moaning that he didn’t save a shot from a PL striker clean through on goal, like last week

Yes dont disagree but he can either be on fire or hardly touch the ball like at spurs last week when we really needed a top performance. Based on his stats you have to pick him but sometimes he can be flat.
Didn't pass to him last week, did today
