Atmosphere - 2023/24

We can't keep blaming everyone if the atmosphere is shit, there's certainly more than enough hard core City fans in the ground to make a din. If they don't sing its no fuckers fault except the fans, we need to take responsibility...

In the CBS, the ES, and the NS, when people around you are pretty much discouraging you to sing, sit there in silence, watching their mobiles, taking pictures and videos, and doing everything and anything bar supporting the team, what chance does the odd person have to try and get songs and the atmosphere going in the row, the block, and the stand?

Yes, the fans are responsible to an extend, but Khaldoon, Soriano, Danny Wilson, and those at the club tasked with driving match day revenue at all costs and by any means possible, regardless of it effecting the match day atmopshere are the real culprits and the people to blame. Their decisions based on match day revenue growth and income have had a direct and detrimental effect on City’s legacy match going fan base and the atmosphere in general.

I completely agree. We as fans don’t have a voice and we don’t have a group that can stand up for city fans.issues like ticket prices and the ridiculously high number of tickets being given to agencies. We need a proper supporters trust.

The 1894 group are the only ones who regularly speak up on some of these issues. The official supporters club/ city matters I rarely hear or see anything from them

The last City matters meeting was on the 12 of October, nearly 2 months ago, according to the CM, OS minutes.

There probably won’t be a City Matters meeting until after Christmas and the New year. That will be 3 months without a meeting. That works out about 3 meetings a season or every 3 months.

I’m in a supporters branch. We have a meeting every two weeks to discuss issues, tickets, travel, etc.

So many roles at City!

3 months is too long! The amount of things that happen between those months.

In my opinion City matters is a tick box exercise to make it seem like the club listen to the fans. If the club want to do something they will do it, as we’ve seen.

Compare that to say the spirit of shankly group, they have influence and represent their support

Nail on head. Three meetings a season is nowhere near enough.

We need a Supporters’ Trust, as a matter of urgency.

We kind of knew if we got success from the takeover that this would be a price of that success. As we hadn't had any success for thirty five years we just didn't realise how impactful it would be. For me I can now happily step away from live games after watching the Aguero moment live and lots of other trophies being lifted. I actually find going to games a chore now. The shit transport, sanitisation of it all, tourist fans everywhere blocking the way taking pictures, announcers cheerleading, over zealous stewards, our club quick to jump on us but do nothing to defend us from opposition fans attacks and constant media lies, belittlement and slanderous articles. Easier to sit at home in the warmth and watch it on the TV.

The club need to be careful what they are cultivating though. Once Pep and his mates leave and the trophies dry up so will the tourists. Once the local fans are gone they're gone forever.
Summed it up perfectly, that’s exactly how I feel pal.

I’ve had a season ticket since 83/84 but won’t be renewing this time, enough’s enough

I keep mine going now as it's cheap. I find I'm selling it more and more on the ticket exchange though. The club are happy as they make more money selling it on.

I don’t wanna hang on until it gets to the point where I start really disliking what we’ve become. It’s like a marriage where you’re unhappy but you still love her, it’s better to bail before the simmering resentment turns to hatred

Barcelona are the club that gorged itself on tourists and their €€€€ - but playing away from the Nou Camp and the tourists have disappeared and they are left with a half full stadium. Leeds had a bigger attendance in the Championship that the club that thinks of itself as the biggest in the world.

We are going down the same route.

Genuinely do hope we get relegated, it would weed out all the tourists and we’d get our club back.

If the price of success is that we lose our club, then what was the point of it all?
I’m sorry you feel that way. You must be pretty down to want City relegated. No more Europe, no more cup runs just average football played in front of 30k in a half filled stadium.

I’m sure Soriano & Co expect our support not to drop off post Pep, with another 2 seasons of trophy success via Pep, increasing our growing international and tourist matchday fan base.

It's an odd one. I feel the club and it's employees don't have a lot of time for the old time fans. We place demands on them, ask questions and will complain. Tourists will pay over the odds, are happy to attend a game and spend more money. They cause no issues in comparison to ourselves.

It's fickle support though that will swap alliance as quickly as they latched onto our recent success.

We’ve got for more than 30K hardcore fans. And with seats becoming available, and with season tickets and match day tickets going down in price, ‘possibly’, we might see a return of local fans who have been priced out of PL matches by the club.

I don’t want to see City relegated and tarnished as cheats, but 1 season in the championship, and a wake up call for the people running the club might not be a bad thing, if that’s 1 positive from City being relegated by the corrupt PL.

I think City won’t be found guilty by the (PL) independent panel. But I would wouldn’t I, being a City fan. :-)

We have the right to complain though, as we're the ones who've devoted our lives and spent Tens of Thousands following this club.

What the club is doing now is incredibly narrow minded, and with Barcelona as a prime example, may come back to haunt us

Think people are conflating a few different things in this thread, and I'm honestly not as convinced as others that there is a deep "local" support desperate to come to games for a realistic price. I also think people should be careful for what they wish for, as well. If you want shite football in a half full stadium of only regional accents then you can go to Bolton for the bargain price of £30 and shite football.
